Twitter has becoming so toxic. Seems like every post is specifically designed to trigger people. Signal to noise has diminished to unacceptable levels. I’m going to delete the app for a while and see if I can survive without @elonmusk ‘s version of free speech.

I’m co-writing my 5th book (this one on UX Leadership) so as usual, will be posting choice tidbits. Find me on LinkedIn and Medium. Just not here.
Now that is a true statement.
ChatGPT has been out less than two weeks and it has more apparent use cases than the entirety of blockchain.

My wife takes sugar in her coffee and I really don't approve. When I make the drinks I've found I can get away with putting a third of teaspoon of sugar in her drink before she complains that it's not sweet enough.

#ministryforthefuture sounds like a fascinating book. I was at #kimstanlyrobinson lecture yesterday in San Francisco.
#KimStanleyRobinson's #MinistryForTheFuture was groundbreaking, depicting a detailed, plausible transition from a world barreling towards a civilization-ending climate catastrophe to a world that meets the challenge as humanity decides to save itself: pluralistic.net/2020/12/03/m… 1/
Never give up
Una autora tuiteó su tristeza porque nadie fue a la firma de su libro. Le contestaron, entre otros, estos tres. Never give up. 😉

This is the sentiment shared in Attack Surface as well — the old paradigms our crumbling. We need new community-centric, secure, local? ways of communicating. Did I mention that was one of the best and most influential books I’ve read last year? Thanks @doctorow

Holy shit. January 6 police officers and their families skip Mitch McConnell as he tries to shake their hands. (h/t @acyn)

Jessica: I can't stand watching conservatives, like Mccarthy was doing this weekend, talking about how this is about the first amendment. Biden was not in elected office. He was a candidate. What they wanted taken down was pictures of his son’s penis

The equivalent of conducting a fire drill by shouting “fire!” in a crowded theater. #stopgunviolence
Sun Valley High School students in North Carolina were startled when their teachers locked doors, turned off lights, and told them to hide. Police were in the halls. Fearing the worst, they sent panicked goodbyes to their parents. But it was just a “spontaneous lockdown drill.”

I’m just thinking about how many did crash these meetings to yell about having their kids wear a mask but they don’t think this is traumatic. It is bizarre 💔

💯: “optimising plausibility over veracity” “reaching genuinely superhuman bullshit levels” “seems like a *really* terrible engineering goal.“ And yet that is *exactly* where we are.
Nicely put! Research on LLMs has lead to everyone optimising plausibility over veracity, which seems like a *really* terrible engineering goal. I’d say they are reaching genuinely superhuman bullshit levels. Not sure this is what Turing had in mind with his imitation game.
