holy shit karpathy turned 43 million HN comments into a youtube watchlist he filtered 43 million hacker news comments down to 6,454 videos. that's about 6,600 comments of people arguing per video that made the cut this is the kind of shit i’d actually pay youtube premium for

anthropic showed an example where loading tools only when needed took the context from 150,000 tokens to 2,000 98.7% FEWER tokens before deciding your agent needs a smarter model, maybe check what you're making it read

"claude, pls rewrite this legacy code, make no mistakes"
This is INSANE. Cisco’s president Jeetu Patel has given a 27-year-old engineer unlimited AI tokens to try to rewrite 98% of the company’s legacy code within 24 months, Fortune reports. Padmanabhan Krishnamurthy thinks he can do it with a two-person team. He has just four weeks to prove the approach.

talked to SaaS founder. 500m-ish valuation last round. the business is dying. every client they come to already has a vibe coded solution. no joke
Rough week for software. 81% of names down. ServiceNow off 34%. Multiple compression happens much more swiftly & brutally than multiple expansion.

is it just me or does it feel like no one really cares when a SOTA model comes out from google?
I did say we'd be releasing our models periodically...introducing Gemini 4 Carbon, our next frontier model. Following Argon's release just two weeks ago, Carbon shows the pace at which we’re pushing the frontier, it ranks #1 on the recently updated v5.0 of @ArtificialAnlys Intelligence Index at 59. It also leads across key cybersecurity evaluations scoring 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro for finding vulnerabilities, 54.8% on ExploitGym for exploitation, and 71.0% on CWE-bench for patching. We’re seeing significant improvements in long-horizon tasks even compared to Argon, and we’ve strengthened frontier safeguards. As we did with Argon, we’re going to roll it out gradually + responsibly. Some trusted cyber defenders will get access starting this week. We'll be expanding it to more partners through our Fairwind Program, ahead of wider availability soon, so hang tight!

soon you’ll be able to generate an entire company’s software stack in an afternoon. but getting everyone to stop using the spreadsheet will still take 4 years. 20 if you are in germany and 100 in japan.
