This project has gone through several twists and turns but, in general, the approach and tools in this work should be applicable to identifying cell type specific EVs from other cell types/organs.

This work was a large team effort across the Walt, @geochurch, and Regev labs, and I am very grateful for all of the work and different expertise contributed by many people to bring this all together!

Happy to share our recent paper with @alicechenp , @geochurch , and David Walt on measuring Alpha Synuclein (aSyn) cargo in plasma extracellular vesicles (EVs): pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.24…

Using aSyn as a test case, we asked the question of what fraction of a given protein in plasma is inside vs outside EVs. We combined a highly efficient EV isolation method, together with an optimized proteinase protection assay, and highly sensitive Simoa immunoassays:

How does IPI learn how well its antibodies actually work? By sharing them with researchers in the field who test them in real world assays. Learn about IPI’s approach & amazing collaborators. @dimatero @Addgene @YCharOS @BrownUNeuro shorturl.at/hFLZW

Thanks Emma! For both helping me get this project off of the ground, as well as your many technical contributions to the project and artistic contributions to the manuscript!
a triumphant milestone on a long, long journey. I recall feeling inspired when @dimatero described this vision to me ~10y ago. I'm even more inspired by how he pursued it relentlessly from that day & very proud to have played a part in bringing it to life! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Many thanks to George and Aviv for their support all of these years, members of the Church and Regev labs, as well as David Walt and members of his lab. In particular, this would not have been possible without Sara Whiteman, Tal Gilboa, @wendytrieu13, @ejkk0, and Siddharth Iyer.

I enjoyed presenting this work at #ISEV2024 in Melbourne and all of the great discussions I had there. Would be happy to get any other feedback on the manuscript.
