To the more than 60,000 children of Gaza who have lost their parents to this devastating Genocide... We cannot bring back the arms that once held them, the voices that comforted them, or the homes that sheltered their dreams. But we can make sure they are not left to face tomorrow alone. Let our compassion go beyond an Instagram post. Let our grief become action, and our solidarity become a lifeline. Taawon, a trusted Palestinian organization, through its NOOR program, has pledged to care for 20,000 Gaza's orphaned children and help restore hope and dignity to their lives. And now, Team Taawon is climbing Mount Kilimanjaro—not simply to reach a summit, but to raise hope and support for Gaza's orphaned children. Every step they take is a reminder that these children must not be forgotten. We cannot give them back what they have lost. But together, we can help give them the future they deserve. Don't just applaud the climb or share their sorrow. Be part of their journey. Donate to Taawon today. And share this message taawon.org/en/KILIMANJARO

🎙️ Speaker Spotlight In this episode of Global Health Dialogues, Princess Dina speaks with Prof. Daiming Fan, President of the China Anti-Cancer Association (CACA), as well as President of the World Association for Integrative Oncology and the Asian Oncology Society. A leading expert in gastrointestinal cancers, he has authored more than 200 books and published over 800 peer-reviewed articles. Prof. Fan shares China’s evolving approach to cancer prevention and treatment, and explains why he believes modern oncology must move beyond treating the tumor alone to treating the whole person. He discusses the development of China-specific cancer guidelines, the philosophy of holistic integrative oncology, the role of traditional Chinese medicine alongside modern cancer treatment, and the importance of prevention, research, data and international cooperation. Prof. Fan also reflects on how specialization has transformed medicine, but argues that integration is essential to ensure patients are not reduced to a collection of organs, diagnoses and treatments. Join us for a wide-ranging conversation on how cancer care can become more integrated, patient-centered and globally collaborative. 📅 Coming soon on Global Health Dialogues with Princess Dina @ghdwpd Presented by @oncodaily #GlobalHealthDialogues #PrincessDinaMired #CancerCare #Oncology #CancerPrevention #IntegrativeOncology #PatientCenteredCare #GlobalHealth #China

Einstein wrote this on April 10, 1948, the day after the Deir Yassin massacre, in which Irgun & Lehi fighters butchered Palestinian villagers. He probably hadn't heard of the massacre yet, which makes it all the more perceptive. He blames the Brits & jewish terrorists for any calamities to follow in Palestine.

The most immoral army. The army of the deranged ones. Committing the monstrosity of the century. Every day, new brushes of horror.
Prof. Nick Maynard in Gaza says Israeli soldiers not only deliberately shoot children, they likely agree among each other to target different body parts on different days. Just for laughs. One day the doc see shot off ears, next day noses, then hands, other days genitals, etc etc

BIg congratulations on your nomination for the position of WHO Director-General. This is a truly significant recognition of your leadership, experience, and commitment to global health. 👏👏👏@GevTamamyan
I am honored to announce my candidacy for Director-General of the World Health Organization, nominated by the Republic of Botswana. I am deeply grateful to President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko and the Government of Botswana for their trust. Botswana has shown the world what determined national leadership can achieve in the face of extraordinary health challenges. I am honored to be nominated by a country with such a powerful story of resilience and progress. I have spent my career as a pediatric oncologist, building care in places where resources were limited and communities were underserved. I have seen children survive when few believed they would. And I have seen children die simply because of where they were born. Geography must not decide who lives. Growing up, the words “recommended by WHO” meant trust. Today, in a world of misinformation and eroding confidence in institutions, we must ensure that the world continues to have WHO—stronger, more agile, and better aligned with today’s realities. My vision is clear: a World Health Organization that delivers—faster, more effectively, and in true partnership with Member States—so that progress in health reaches every person, everywhere. It is also an honor to stand alongside such distinguished candidates, each bringing important experience and perspectives to this process. In the months ahead, I look forward to listening to and engaging with Member States across every region of the world. Dr. Gevorg Tamamyan @WHO @duma_boko @BWGovernment

Since the news of my candidacy for Director-General of the @WHO became public, I have received so many messages of encouragement and kindness from around the world. Thank you. For your words, your trust, and for believing in me. But yesterday, I received one message that made me rethink how I want to tell the story of this campaign. It was from my wife, Lilya. My biggest believer, my strongest supporter, and the love of my life. And it reminded me of something she told me just a few days ago. We were getting ready, and once again I was wearing one of those dark, very serious ties. I told her: “Lilya, I don't like these ties. This is not me. I like something more stylish, more my style. And my happy socks! And my red sneakers...” She looked at me and said: “Then stop. Just be yourself.” Just be yourself. Maybe that is exactly how I should approach this journey. If I am asking the world to trust me with such an important responsibility, people should know who I am. Not only what I think about healthcare, WHO, financing, access or global health. But how I think. What shaped me. Who shaped me. What I believe in. What makes me laugh, what makes me angry, what gives me hope. So during this journey, I am going to tell stories. And the first one had to be about Lilya. We met during the first days of medical school and studied together. We have been very close friends ever since. Many years later, I finally realized what apparently should have been obvious much earlier: we should spend our lives together and be the closest friends. Today, Lilya is an ophthalmologist and a deeply caring doctor who genuinely loves her patients and her work. She is a wonderful mother to our two children and, most importantly, an extraordinary human being. She also has an incredible talent for creating beauty around her. Give her an empty room, a dinner, an event—anything—and somehow she transforms it. She loves bringing people together and making every detail beautiful. Perhaps because she sees beauty everywhere. And perhaps because she is so beautiful herself 😍 Being my wife is probably not easy. I travel too much. Even when I am home, my mind is often somewhere else—thinking about the next idea, the next project, the next thing that needs to be done. And she is the person who brings me back. Back to life. Back to enjoying the moment. And sometimes, back to being myself—with the ties I actually like, my colorful socks, and, yes, my red sneakers. Thank you, Lilya, for your love, your patience, your support—and for reminding me to just be myself. The best is yet to come. Thank you, my love. ❤️ P.S. Women are great leaders. And great doers. I am really happy to see three incredible women also running for this job. @HananBalkhy @DrMariaNeira Dr Hanan Mohammed Al-Kuwari So, gentlemen, it looks like it is going to be tough for us. ☺️ @hans_kluge @BudiGSadikin

As Patron of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) I was honoured to join HM Queen lLetizia of Spain in Brussels to mark the 10th anniversary of World Cancer Research Day at the headquarters of the EORTC. The occasion brought together leading voices from cancer research, clinical care, patient advocacy and policy to reflect on the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of cancer research. In my keynote remarks, I stressed that cancer research is not a luxury — it is not something we fund only when economies are doing well. It is not something separate from cancer. Research is cancer care. Sustained investment in research, stronger international collaboration and equitable access to advances in prevention, treatment and care are essential if we are to change the trajectory of cancer for patients everywhere.

In Memoriam: My Dear Friend Dr. Navid Madani There are some people whose goodness is not something they speak about—it is simply how they live. My dear friend Dr. Navid Madani was one of those rare human beings. Navid was profoundly selfless. She was one of those increasingly rare people willing to step outside the comfort of her own life to help others. She did not simply care from a distance. She showed up. And Navid quite literally showed up. Rest in peace, my dear friend. You did so much good while you were here. @oncodaily @DrZSB @harvardmed @KHCFKHCC @DanaFarber @uicc @theNCI @SHECenterDFCI @CCan_org @EORTC @GevTamamyan

Cancer is more than a medical diagnosis. It can also bring fear, assumptions, and stigma. In this episode of Global Health Dialogues, Princess Dina Mired and Dr. Urvi Shah @UrviShahMD discuss the challenges young cancer patients often face beyond treatment, including misconceptions around fertility, marriage, work, and the emotional burden of sharing a diagnosis. Together, they reflect on the importance of respecting each person's choice, offering meaningful support, and creating a more compassionate conversation around cancer. 📽️ Watch the full episode: youtu.be/jWzVGsy2y-M 🎧 Also available on Spotify: open.spotify.com/episode/4k8… Presented by @oncodaily #GlobalHealthDialogues #PrincessDinaMired #CancerResearch #CancerPrevention #Oncology #LifestyleMedicine #NutritionScience #Microbiome #MultipleMyeloma #CancerSurvivorship
