Central Park has been in the media a lot lately. Much of the online discourse says that the park has descended into chaos, with the blame placed on bikes, e-bikes, and horse carriages.
So we went up to the park this fall to survey the conditions and see if there's any room for improvement.

Wow, just saw this tonight. Do yourself a favor and read A LOT about it before watching. Research the movie and know how it ends and begins. Do NOT go in blind. Know the plot and ideally view the film beforehand. Arrive having had. Just... Trust me.

There's an easy piece of technology that can prevent cyclists and pedestrians from being run over and killed by truck drivers.
But few trucks operating on New York City's streets are required to have it — and many of those trucks get an exemption from the city itself...

Trucks and SUVs are more dangerous, pollute more, degrade our infrastructure faster, and take up more of our public space than smaller, lighter vehicles.
then don't "remove" it. simply let it live out the rest of its days. after which, we'll hold a brief funeral, and finally, we'll all be able to move on with our lives.

Either:
(1) Urban highways are Bad, in which case we should use this generational opportunity to remove perhaps the most egregious example of a waterfront urban highway cutting through a dense neighborhood in the US today
Or
(2) Urban highways are Good, in which case Robert Moses is an unsung hero who built critical infrastructure in the face of NIMBYism and is unfairly pilloried today
It's one of those two. Anything else is just status quo bias or grandstanding.
Mamdani seems to suggest that the city would have been better off if Moses hadn't built the BQE. So why repair it for another 40 years?
Let's not kick the can down the road to 2080. Now is the time to find a path forward from this inhumane piece of infrastructure.

There's an abandoned rail line in Queens. Two opposing advocacy groups have ideas about what to do with it.
@thequeenslink wants a park AND a rail line. @TheQueensWay wants a park WITHOUT rail.
@NYCMayor has decided to move forward with QueensWay, did he make the right call?

Double-parked trucks? Cars blocking the loading zone?? A bus stuck in traffic???
It's just another day on Broadway.

Replying to @StreetsblogNYC @NYC_DOT
cars are great for rural areas, and they're the only convenient form of transportation in most of america. thankfully, that's not the case in NYC, our leaders understand that cars aren't compatible with human density. it's a problem of geometry, not NYC's leaders.

In a city where every improvement is met with bureaucracy and exorbitant price tags, it's refreshing to see @NYC_DOT do easy things to make life in New York a little better...
Like turning an extra lane of parking in Greenwich Village into a new seating area 🌊
