This is needs to be heard far and wide and calls attention to a deep fear for carers and those they support. We need to think the unthinkable and how people will manage the in the most dreadful of emergencies

It is important to be aware of emotions during the Christmas period, especially when music is played as particular songs may stir memories which can be both positive and negative 🎶

From next week, the kids are off school for 6.5 wks. Out of the numerous local summer camps on offer this summer, the play opportunities for disabled children are once again practically non existent. My son is now 15 and sadly this has been our reality for over a decade now.

Short breaks are fundamental. They hold families together & prevent them from reaching crisis.
For disabled children, they open up a new world, more independence, a chance to try new things.
69% of families receive no support outside the home.
This is an affront to society
Thanks for referencing our work. Which can be seen here - hull.ac.uk/work-with-us/rese…
Although conducted during the COVID pandemic, many findings remain relevant for any carers when apart from the person they support
Like distance care , supported care or a move to live in a residential care home distance will matter. In the end it will become another locality. Also about familarity and access (how far away). Anyone interested should look @dist_care study. #diversealz

It's #carersweek24 - carers if a loved one moves to a #carehome, you are still their carer. You are still the person who knows their care best. You are an important part of their life. But you also need support, someone to care about you. Good care involves everyone.
