also everyone needs to shut up about anne rice because none of you even know what you’re fucking talking about, she wasn’t the only author who had issues with fanfic and I find it misogynistic that she’s the only one who has been turned into this huge fandom bogeyman

she doxxed people and scared fanfic writers with legal threats to the point they deleted her entire category. i can’t think of another author sending cease and desists. they just vocally disapprove. she took down entire communities.

Playing the victim after three days of harassing and dismissing every writer who expressed they didn't like their work reuploaded YOU CANNOT BE REAL
writers hating their readers this much will kill fandoms actually

Actually, do not delete your fics when the archive comes back on. Private them but don't take them off the site. Once deleted it becomes infinitely more difficult to prove authorship and thus more difficult to protect against scrapers, thieves, plagiarizers and the like
hi they're trying to make you hate fic writers so it stops being taboo to read ai fics

More Kim Dokja thoughts: He isn't one to verbalise affection. Kim Dokja is a man who uses his words thoughtfully. He speaks well and when he wants, he speaks plenty. Yet, when it comes to vulnerability, he massively sucks at being open about it. Kim Dokja isn't keen on saying that he loves someone, for sure. He's very good at expressing it subconsciously with his actions: by providing, guiding, giving gifts, and ultimately, sacrificing himself. Kim Dokja can definitely acknowledge that he holds affection in some way for people. He understands that he feels deeply for someone. But he also feels that his feelings are atypical — he doesn't feel "love" like how the rest of the world professes to feel that sort of thing. Kim Dokja feels like something is wrong with him, that he's not someone who's capable of a feeling like love, not for any individual in his life, and definitely not in the way he's supposed to be. (Which is objectively not true. Feeling an emotion doesn't look just one way, you can feel an emotion in a completely different way than someone else. Kim Dokja is just a certified dumbass when it comes to vulnerability.)

Doksoo "Kim Dokja, do you think there's another universe where we meet?" She looked up at the man, whose eyes watched the night sky right above them. Han Sooyoung noted every dip and every curve of the face like it was her last time, pale skin illuminated by the moon and stars.

If you already did, don’t panic!! <3 I’d just stop sending them anything further. And if you reused that password anywhere else, change it there too, and turn on 2FA if you haven’t already.

as a platform — for example, issues involving mass scraping, misuse of AO3’s name/branding, interference with the Archive, or broader legal/technical concerns affecting the site and its users collectively.

The distinction is basically between AO3 as a whole and individual fics. OTW can’t file a copyright takedown on behalf of every individual author, because OTW does not own the copyright to our fanworks — we do. But OTW can still take action where AO3 itself is affected +

The domain's current registration dates from Nov 1, three days after AO3 went down, yet the site claims 15.8 million works. You can't copy that from an AO3 that's offline: the content was already saved before this site appeared. 1/5

Contact the domain host instead, you don't have to use your AO3 email, only provide proof of your ownership of the content and include all the offending links in one email.

Update from the Ao3 subreddit regarding ao3(dot)life-

It's a result of scraping, not a copy of AO3 itself. They are clearly using some dump (probably the one that was taken down from archiveorg) for older fics + scraping for newer works on top. If your fic existed in the dump or when they scraped it, it will be on the damn site

So ao3 [dot] life is a website whose domain was JUST registered today, with millions (?) of fics as audiobooks within their database. Honestly this is highly suspicious — DO NOT email this site for taking your fics down, they have no business knowing that kind of information.

The site itself appears to have been active as far back as March of 2023 per the Wayback Machine (silently scraping in the meantime). However, the fact they chose now to register their website domain (so shortly after AO3's security incident) is INCREDIBLY sus:

quick links. contact otw transformativeworks.org they are our legal defense when it comes to fanfics contact their host services: [email protected] alert them that one of their sites is being used to monetize copyrighted material illegally contact their transaction provider: [email protected] CC as well: [email protected] zo3life's payment processor is dodopayments. write to them that their services are being used inappropriately. invoke your rights. note that ao3life is stating that authors are getting 91% of profits when you have not consented or known about this. taking down payment options will kill this site the fasts
In light of recent ao3 related events, I have stumbled upon a website that I think authors need to be made aware of.  The website ao3 [DOT] life has been scraping and downloading fics published to ao3 for who knows how long. 🧵

Report the domain, website, whatever, even with ao3s lawyers possibly looking into it, submitting a report could probably help speed up the website getting taken down

This site is hosted by Namecheap, and you can contact their domain host with complaints at [email protected] Every single work that has been reposted to this site without the express permission of the original fanfic authors is a violation of copyright

for those asking about email address and privacy. I emailed from my ao3 account because I deleted my ao3 and the email isn't attached to ANY other account. I'd suggest creating an email specifically to contact this website. Exercise internet safety.

I don't really know. I would generally create an email specific to this situation. I emailed from my ao3 email because I've deleted the account and I don't use that email for anything else. I'd suggest exercising internet safety and creating an email to contact them
