The only way that residents of DC have ever gained our complete voting rights without moving is through the process of retrocession. Merging with Maryland works. Excluding a 2nd Retrocession from our advocacy for complete enfranchisement is disingenuous & clearly self-defeating.
The latest unrest in France offers precisely what American progressives keep urging us to adopt: expensive barriers to hiring, immigration without a serious demand for assimilation, and a government expected to pay for nearly everything.
Yesterday @dcrotary my guest @cpgrabow of the @CatoInstitute spoke with us about how the Jone’s Act costs us billions every year except of course in the last 6 months when the Act has been suspended due to high energy costs. The sooner the Jones Act is repealed, the better.
Glad to quoted a couple of times by @maustermuhle in this well written piece. washingtonsun.com/metro/dc-r…
Brief (like 10 days) early voting is good. It helps turn out. Extended early voting is awful. Early voting in Virginia and a few other states started yesterday. That's crazy. Many things can happen in six weeks that could lead one to regret his or her prematurely casted vote.
DJT Jr.'s wedding after party being paid for by a Russian oligarch is an example of soft foreign policy. Soft foreign policy was regularly deployed by the USAID & other US agencies prior to the present admin, which instead is manipulated by soft foreign policy from Russia.
Xers should display themselves not a photo of an animal or of someone other than themselves. Be who you are. You are somebody. Don't be your dog or your cat. Don't be an owl, even if you are wise. You are not a stag caught in an oncoming car's headlights. You look good. Show us.
After almost a month of being in X purgatory, I'm back. To anyone who received a direct but bogus fishing message from me in early August I apologize. I fell for this exact link from someone else days prior and my X account was stolen for a couple of days, until now.
OK, I just re-registered again. It took 3 minutes online. I was a Democrat for about 6 months leading up to and through our monopoly primary but now I am an Independent again. That's a great way to be in DC now that our city is wisely opening our primary starting in 2028.
Downwardly mobile is no way to go through life, son.

The whole (free) newsletter is here with more data and analysis. Hope this presents a little more nuance than the usual discussions of the DSA.

DC finally did it. Now it's Maryland's turn.
A new op-ed out of Maryland makes a simple point:
If you have to join a political party just to vote, the system isn’t really open.

Love markets not because they allow the strong to dominate or inequality to grow, but because genuine competition allows the little guy to challenge the strong. Healthy markets allow new entrants to rise, consumers to choose, workers to move & incumbents to fail. @FareedZakaria
