I think I just said, "If you ever know of anyone who needs a leadership coach who wears hoodies, has tattoos, and doesn't do assessments, do send them my way." Is that my brand? If so, I like it. And so do my clients, apparently. I swear a lot, too. I'm sure that helps.

"When we tell ourselves negative stories it can lead to quick (& usually wrong) action. When you have a strong emotion at work, backtrack & find the real story behind it. Slow down & identify if the thought is fact, feeling, or fiction."

"The best stories are experiences. You're doing it wrong as a leader if you're just trying to convince everyone of something. You're doing it right if you understand who you are, where your team is headed & the impact you want to make."

"The best product leaders I’ve worked with are confident in what they are trying to learn or build. The worst are reactive to everything. It’s almost always because of insecurity or lack of clarity." — @dlichaw

I’m excited about @dlichaw’s coming book, The Leader’s Journey, because the increase in responsibilities and GROWTH I have experienced this year (through smiles, tears and grit) has been invaluable.
It would be great to read up and spot any stones left unturned.

From the person who literally wrote the book, Grit. Take heed.
For the record, no.
True grit is *not* grinding yourself into a burned out shell of a human being.
True grit is pursuing a goal that is meaningful to you in a way that is sustainable--and while sometimes hard, brings joy and pride.

This is very good. This is not a just a metaphor. It’s how systems work. The economy (business<>customer needs) and the ocean are both systems. They exist to exist. They maintain themselves in order to survive. (1/4)
*needs != user stories/goals. Humans need status, certainty, autonomy, relatedness, and fairness to thrive. Fuck with that and they will go elsewhere to meet their needs. If they can’t, they’re trapped. And that’s terrible business - that’s when systems crumble, too. (3/4)
