@NamesCon Miami, here we come! Days away!! All-in is ALL-IN!

For EACH domain, give me TWO prices:
What would YOU pay for it as a domain investor, using your own money?
If you owned it, what would YOU ask an end user to pay?
What would you BUY it for?
What would you SELL it for?
And don’t be a wise guy! 🚫
Give it some thought.
If you post to disrupt, consider it your last. 🚫
This is an exercise only. Nothing is being sold. No binding bids. No auction winner.
The point is to show what someone can assemble in less than 30 days in the domain industry when they know what they’re looking for.
These 10 names are a sample of that portfolio.
If I had to start all over again, with only the small portfolio I’ve put together in the last 30 days, I believe I’d be just fine.
I’d still need patience, a plan & execution. But I’d have something to work with.
The experience, judgment & eye that built my original portfolio would come with me.
So, let’s see your numbers.
I’m not suggesting or recommending that anyone build on a .SI at this point.
I’m watching for the anchor tenants. The companies that move in, invest, build, and give people a reason to show up.
Until that happens, you have to understand that building there could be a long slog. Maybe adoption comes quickly. Maybe it takes years. Maybe it never develops the way you expect.
A major company moving in could change the picture dramatically. But you can’t build your entire plan around assuming it’s about to happen.
Don’t move prematurely. Don’t exhaust your money, energy, and patience before the market even gets started.
That’s why I keep saying:
TIMING IS EVERYTHING.
Think about how much of life depends on it.
In the stock market, two people can buy the same stock and have completely different results because of when they buy and when they sell.
In real estate, you can recognize where a city will grow and still arrive decades before the roads, customers, and commerce.
In technology, a product can be brilliant and still struggle because the infrastructure, habits, or demand haven’t caught up.
In business, you can hire too soon, expand too fast, launch too early, or wait until the opportunity has passed.
A farmer understands planting season. A retailer understands the holiday season. A restaurant owner understands the difference between opening before the neighborhood arrives and opening when the neighborhood is hungry.
Trains. Planes. Appointments.
A head-on collision. A near miss.
Sometimes a few seconds change a life.
Baseball, basketball, and football make timing easy to see. But it matters just as much when you’re buying an asset, launching a company, or deciding when to commit time & money.
You can have the right idea, the right name, and the right ambition, yet still have the wrong timing.
Buying a domain and building a business on it are two different decisions. They don’t have to happen on the same day, in the same month, or even in the same year.
For me, it was 30 years before the moment became right.
I can acquire a name because I see a possibility. That doesn’t mean I believe the market is ready for a business on it today.
The acquisition clock and the development clock can run on different schedules.
Know which clock you’re watching.
Give yourself enough runway to wait, enough discipline to watch, and enough energy to move when the evidence supports it.
Don’t burn yourself out waiting for the starting gun.
TIMING IS EVERYTHING!!

I’ve never worried about renewals because the FIRST thing I did when I got online, when domains were $100 EACH per year, was build a mechanism that allowed them to pay for themselves.
Instead of putting everything up for sale to a market that didn’t exist, I built a machine.
It didn’t have to make me rich. It had to TOTE THE NOTE.
That machine has worked for over 3 decades. Paying the bills came first because I didn’t want the renewal steamroller chasing me for life.
My suggestion:
Before you rush to sell domains to a market that isn’t ready for them, make money with SOME of them so you can afford the luxury of holding the others.
Selling before the market develops means accepting what that undeveloped market will pay.
You can’t spend your entire career being a cat on a hot tin roof.
I understand having to sell some names to survive. But at some point, you have to graduate from selling to SURVIVE to selling to THRIVE.
Different mindset. Different approach. Different direction. Much different result.
Don’t repeat the mistake of every other extension: rushing to sell before the market develops.
Timing is EVERYTHING.
On one hand, I’m not complaining. I’ve bought some amazing domains in recent weeks. But I’ve never hidden my strategies, even when sharing them creates competition for me.
In my view, the biggest group diminishing domain values is domain owners themselves. BY FAR!!
The end user brings demand. Domain owners establish the prices they’re willing to accept. They help create the market, & they can suppress it.
When you pull your pants down just to make a sale, don’t confuse that with winning.
But the other extreme is no better.
Slapping a ridiculously high price on a domain doesn’t make it valuable. It makes you look foolish when you can’t explain the business case behind it.
Especially before the market is established. Nobody has shown up to the party.
You have to distinguish a GREAT domain from what everyone casually calls “premium.”
That label gets slapped on so much crap it’s practically meaningless.
I look through thousands & thousands of domains. Much of the quality I see is NOT good.
Some people have an eye. They can spot the winners. With others, I have no idea what the hell they’re doing.
I WANT you to succeed. That’s why I keep making this point:
You’re not selling doghouses.
You’re selling fucking WORLD HEADQUARTERS.
Get your heads out of your asses long enough to consider what a business could actually DO with the name.
Let that marinate before a knee-jerk disagreement.
It takes the same effort to make $8 an hour with domains as it does to make $800 an hour. In my experience, making $800 can take a lot LESS effort when you’re looking at the right assets & understand what you’re doing.
The difference is what you consider before you buy, while you hold & when you sell.
Do you understand the market?
Timing? Sales? Demand? Word of mouth? Ratios?
What about the other 20 metrics that barely get discussed because everyone is busy counting how many extensions a name is registered in & checking its registration date?
Neither tells me whether there’s a business worth building on that name. For that decision, those numbers are meaningless.
I hate to keep scolding you, but I’ve been doing this for 30 years. People who listen & apply the lessons have often done very well.
We might all start as mobile home flippers. But at some point, you should want to graduate to oceanfront property.
If you can’t tell the oceanfront from the fucking swamp, that’s a problem.
If you don’t understand how nouns, adjectives & verbs affect a name’s meaning & commercial use, that’s a problem.
That judgment is what you need to develop. It determines what you buy, what you pass on & whether the name deserves your time & money.
Build the mechanism that pays the bills. Give yourself the ability to wait. Learn to recognize what’s worth waiting FOR.
That’s how you give yourself a chance to sell to THRIVE.
Cleopatra .si & Valentino .si have now joined my collection of names steeped in history, legend, art & romance:
Michelangelo .si
Casanova .si
DonJuan .si
DonGiovanni .si
Giovanni .si
Fabio .si
Beauty. Charisma. Seduction. Intrigue.
Each name brings an identity. Each identity opens the door to something worth building.
I have more people blocked than following me. When they cry about it, here’s why.
Encouraging someone to bid in their own auction, as you see below? BLOCKED.
When someone follows me, I check their feed & credentials. How they treat others & what they encourage tells me plenty.
My criteria are simple: honesty, integrity & conduct.
Character matters more than follower counts.
Let's define swampland domains and oceanfront domains since so many domain investors focus on worthless swampland. Imagine it’s 1826 instead of 2026.
You plant a street sign way out west where there’s no town, no road, no business, & no customers.
You call it “Dot Whatever Way.”
Congratulations. You’ve got a street sign.
Maybe 100 years later, a city grows around it. But until people arrive & commerce follows, that sign isn’t doing a damn thing for you.
You can be right about the location & still be 100 years too early.
Timing is everything. I say it all the time.
How old are you? Can you wait 100 years?
That’s the difference between planting a sign & recognizing an opportunity whose TIME has arrived.
When a gold rush arrives, RECOGNIZE IT. GREET IT. & GRAB WHAT YOU CAN!
But make sure the gold rush happens in YOUR lifetime and it is actually gold, not something painted yellow. That’s the key difference.
We’ve witnessed a .COM gold rush. It’s still going.
We’ve witnessed an .AI gold rush. It’s still in progress.
Now we’re witnessing what I see as an .SI gold rush unfolding before our eyes.
Whether that rush turns into lasting adoption is still an open question.
But there’s a difference between waiting 100 years for people to show up & seeing them arrive TODAY.
That’s why I sat on the sidelines for the other extensions. I didn’t see the fruit ripening in my lifetime.
With .AI & .SI, I see something worth planting for NOW.
For 13 years, I’ve endured pressure, criticism, name-calling & domain stalking from domainers with a vested interest in getting me to buy into THEIR extension.
I resisted. I was one of the few voices pushing back. They didn’t like it, & they didn’t make it easy.
Their blah, blah, blah wasn’t going to sway me. Neither was telling me I was stupid, a dinosaur, or missing the next big thing.
The only thing that sways me is NEW FACTS ON THE GROUND.
NEW FACTS! NOT LOUDER MOUTHS!
Something changed. I recognized it, reevaluated my position, & made a decision.
SIMPLE!
That's called business!
In business, you either act. You don't act. Or you're paralyzed by indecision.
The pressure didn’t change my mind. The facts did. ONLY FACTS!
Then I simply marry those facts with a lifetime of experience and follow my instincts and gut.
And over the last few weeks, I've articulated and shared my thought process. If none of that makes sense to you, then maybe you need to get some common sense before you buy your next domain name.
You make the money on the buy.
That's where the money is made. You just cash in on the sale or the build
My best pick ups of the day.

I am now closing in on 500 .SI domains.
First, I went after the strongest names. I expected their prices to spike first & hardest, making them the hardest to get.
Then I went into the mines. Few people, but there sure was a lot of gold & diamonds lying around.
I don’t usually dig deep into veins, but I found a few worth exploring & mining.
Approaching this extension through superintelligence, I focus on the intent of people who might use it. What is their purpose? What are they trying to achieve? Can a builder see a business he can bring to life?
I have a blueprint from the .COM era, but I have to put on a specialized thinking cap. This opportunity has a narrower focus.
We don’t know whether adoption will happen. That’s business. You take a calculated risk based on what history taught you & what you see ahead.
You place your bet.
At $11.54 a registration, I can explore many possibilities without risking a fortune on each one. One builder with a vision or one meaningful sale can tote the note.
Sometimes you overpay to protect your position. Sometimes to fill in the blanks. Sometimes because you’re late to the game.
You balance that with bargains on other names serving the same purpose.
I can afford to take a risk. What I can’t afford is to sit on the sidelines while something big might be happening.
Whichever way this goes, it will unfold before our eyes. Nobody needs to stand on a mountaintop like Moses proclaiming what WILL or WON’T happen. None of us know.
What I saw was a shift in attention. It sucked the oxygen out of the room overnight. What remains unknown is the sustainability. The viability. The adoption.
Do you think I knew any of that shit in 1995 or 1996?
I didn’t know 1/100th of what I know now. I was blind in a dark mine, learning as I went.
Today, I’m in a different mine. But I’ve brought 30 years of experience, & the damn place is lit up like the sunniest day on earth.
All I ever try to do is get a seat at the table.
The domain name is my passport to that seat.
Nobody invited me to the porno table, the candy table or the property table. I elbowed my way in, whether they liked it or not.
It’s hard to ignore the fat guy with a bunch of chips & sometimes one on his shoulder to match!
Entering an established industry, you have to get noticed. You have to make a splash.
After all these years, in my opinion, a GREAT domain name is still one of the best ways to get a seat at the table.
I’m a .COM guy. I’m ALWAYS going to be a .COM guy. I don’t see anything challenging .COM’s position in the lifetime of anyone reading this.
But I sat on the sidelines through 100s of other extensions. Nearly 2,000 of them.
When .AI & .SI emerged, I saw a place for them in the ecosystem. A purpose I could understand. A business case I hadn’t seen for the others.
Outside .COM, .AI & .SI are the only extensions where I own even 25 names.
I was late to .AI, but I assembled a foundation. I wasn’t as late to .SI. I found a foundation, some gems, & some veins worth mining.
Ask yourself 1 question:
Why would a guy who sat on the sidelines for 30 years watching this domain stampede suddenly jump into .SI with both feet?
@andrewrosener and @amiller325gd have articulated the pitfalls in very well-written pieces. I don’t discount any of it. But I don't agree with all of it.
Their valid concerns don’t erase what I see & they see both the opportunity & the risk.
There’s a big difference between blindly gambling & taking a calculated business risk. I know what I’m risking & why.
If I wanted to be a flipper, I could sell what I’ve bought & make money quickly. But that’s not my game.
I look through the eyes of the BUILDER. The AUDIENCE. The FUTURE. The PROFITABILITY.
People thought I was insane in 1996, buying domains when nobody knew what the hell I was doing.
Maybe I’m as insane in 2026.
But insanity has served me well!
At the end of the day, it comes to gut instinct & I always follow my gut! It has served me well.
Here’s the Bentley’s mileage as of RIGHT NOW. 3521. Garage kept every night of its life since 2010. I think it's only been in the rain twice.
I’m having second thoughts about giving it away. The damn thing is still BRAND NEW and GORGEOUS!
What the hell was I thinking?! I think I had a moment of insanity. 🤣
Oh well, a promise is a promise.
Somebody’s going home with MY Bentley! 🔑
