Doomloop Dispatch is going on hiatus. I’m sick of the discussion being dominated by real estate interests, and that includes transit, bike lanes and YIMBYism. I’m sick of being angry all the time over the ignorance I see on the left, especially with these issues. I’m disappointed in the youth and how they’ve been weaponized to fight for real estate interests and how they treat folks that don’t share their beliefs about housing, cars, etc. It just feels pointless to keep going when I’m up against a multi-million-dollar indoctrination factory

blaming cars instead of Justin Herman for what happened to the Fillmore is like blaming Learjet instead of Jeffrey Epstein for what happened on Little St James
Replying to @carlatcole
You gotta get off this.
Cars suck. Cars destroy cities (Fillmore?). Cars are not progressive.
Stop doing “Own the YIMBYs” and focus on progressive initiatives
Walkability is progressive. Safe streets for walkers/bikers is progressive. Good public transportation is progressive.

Alex gets a little coverage from @MLNow but the framing of this is crazy and the whole tome they dont treat him like an actual candidate, nor do they seem to think that anyone who isnt a fascist can win d6. im sure that may come as a surprise to some folks in d6...!
Four years ago, District 6 was one of SF's most competitive supervisor races. This November, it looks to be much less so.
What changed?

If SFMTA's job is to make our streets more congested and harder for everyone to get around, then they can call it "mission accomplished."
Do better.
San Francisco workers shouldn't have to be this frustrated just trying to get to work.
We need streets that work for everyone.
Save your breath if you're going to say, "Cars are the problem." A car is a tool.
The problem is how we design and manage our streets, like leaving a major artery empty on weekdays while traffic floods our residential streets.

They're straight up advertising overtime abuse as part of normal pay now. Did people who voted for Lurie really think 500 more cops woupd lower overtime pay? We're just going to have 500 more at $144M/year from the city. You give a mouse a cookie...

Wiener "agrees" in theory that billionaires should be taxed—he just also thinks it's important that we don't actually tax them
Wiener and Chan agree that fortunes over $50 million and large corporations should be taxed more.
But they split on Prop. 40, California’s billionaire tax.

This is the person that SF Mayor Daniel Lurie is trying to grant a $38 million no-bid contract to.
The free world has seriously underinvested in the weapons required to deter serious adversaries.
Covenant is fixing that. I’m in Dallas, TX today to help open our new factory.
They are building the long-range missile arsenal of the United States: deep-strike weapons produced at scale in Texas. Better missiles at scale, for a fraction of the cost.
This is how America restores deterrence 🇺🇸.

how can you talk about an affordability crisis when you made it so that developers don't have to build affordable units in new developments? it's sheer hypocrisy to use the affordability crisis as a talking point when you cut inclusionary zoning down to like, 5%
Bad news: Amidst an affordability crisis, elected officials in San Francisco are seeking to hasten the freezing of whole neighborhoods in amber through historic landmark streamlining legislation.
Good news: The Planning Commission voted last week to recommend that when such historic designations are instituted, the Board of Supervisors should create a pathway for the housing development rights lost to be transferred elsewhere as an offset.
This validates the spirit of the amendments our office has proposed to the legislation last month. And we look forward to introducing them at the Board of Supervisors in the months ahead.

Again, do YIMBYs have nothing better to do than push bullshit about Austin? There's so many examples of how "build build build" doesn't work -- San Francisco included. Austin is an outlier because Texas is a shitty place to live. If I had to live there I wouldn't pay luxury rent
Replying to @doomloopdisp
Except Austin's real (inflation adjusted) rent went down even while population continued to grow.
This is what I’m talking about. If I have to see this bullshit YIMby talking point again I’m gonna have a heart attack. I’m sick of these assholes constantly lying

Rents go down when the ratio of supply and demand favors supply. If vacancy remains low, because not enough housing is built, you get a situation like Vancouver.
Meanwhile Austin adds 30% and rents go down about 13% in real terms as vacancy broke 10%
