VICTORY: A federal court just put the chainsaws down at East Potomac Park The plan was to turn a public park into a private tournament course for Trump & wealthy golfers. The trees stay while we fight it out in court @DDFund_ & partners are on the case 👇- TN

😭A kid with a big heart, unlike the trash we usually read about in the news. Police arrested a 16-year-old boy for breaking into an animal shelter after midnight and cutting the locks off three kennels, until bodycam footage revealed why he did it. When a silent alarm went off at a county animal shelter just before 2 AM, officers arrived expecting to find thieves stealing expensive veterinary equipment. Instead, they caught a 16-year-old boy in the back hallway trying to lead three elderly dogs toward the emergency exit with a pair of bolt cutters in his backpack. At first, the officers thought it was a reckless prank and placed the boy in the back of a patrol car. He didn't fight back or try to run, he just sat in the back seat crying and begging the officers not to put the dogs back inside. Confused by how desperate he was, one of the officers asked him what was going on. Through tears, the teenager explained that he had been volunteering at the shelter every day after school for six months. Because the facility had run out of space, the three oldest dogs—who had been passed over for adoption for nearly a year were scheduled to be put down at 6 AM that morning. He had begged his parents to let him take them home, and when they said they couldn't afford three dogs, he panicked and decided to break them out himself. When the shelter manager arrived at the scene and saw the boy sitting in the cruiser still trying to comfort the dogs through the window, she couldn't bring herself to press charges. The story spread through the police department by morning, and before the shift ended, two officers and a dispatcher stepped forward to adopt all three senior dogs giving them the homes the boy had risked everything to find for them.

Sia IS HOME!! Not fully on the mend. Her liver problems are not sudden. They are serious. One cancer has been ruled out. Two cancers and/or hepatitis remain. Moderate cholecystitis and mild pancreatitis. She cannot walk or hold her bladder. We will guard our hearts hoping for the best outcome. She ate some soup. Refused her next meal. 5 small meals per day.

This was just posted over on Facebook by @GeorgeTakei . #AdAstra Walter - and Pavel 🖖 My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man. Just last month, on Sept. 14, he turned 90, on the same day Brad and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. I will always treasure that he and I shared that date. Walter was more than Chekov. He was a writer, a teacher, a thoughtful man, and a loyal friend. To the fans who loved him for so many years, thank you. He loved you too. Rest well, my dear friend. Keep navigating a steady course. – George

Sometimes I get really fed up with social media. Today I'm attending animal welfare training, getting my elderly mother home and still running Dog Desk. One person is producing virtually all our work. We have no funding to employ someone to create our posters, and despite advertising, no volunteers have come forward. Yet someone finds time to mock an AI-generated poster for My Giving Circle. A graphic created to draw attention to a free voting campaign that could secure much needed funding for the dogs in our care. It's not an art competition. It's an attempt to buy mobility aids for paralysed dog. If you've got time to criticise, perhaps you've got time to volunteer? We need practical help, not cheap shots from the side lines. Seriously, get a grip. I am really not in the mood for this nonsense today.

I never heard Obama call anyone fat, talk about penises or asses, lie about an election he lost, or threaten to punch a protester. I never watched him turn the presidency into a spectacle of insults & bizarre behavior. God, I miss having a dignified president who made us proud.

Russian ballistic missiles struck the grounds of a university in Kyiv and the area around it – effectively the campus, Kyoto Park, the area near a metro station, and residential buildings. The exact number of casualties is not yet known. But tragically, there are victims. There are people injured. Rescue operations are underway. There is extensive damage, and there are also reports that people may be trapped under the rubble. All emergency services are at the scene and doing their work – saving lives. The missiles hit very crowded areas, and there is not a single military facility nearby. This was a strike directly on the city, on its infrastructure. Unfortunately, there may be more strikes coming. The attack with “shaheds” is also continuing – against Kyiv and our other cities and communities. And it is precisely under such circumstances, when the threat is constant, when strikes can come at any moment and target cities and villages directly, that artificial delays in providing air defense to Ukraine help terror. It is important that political agreements be implemented promptly at the team level. It is important that our partners understand that Ukraine needs the proper tools to destroy Russian ballistic missile launchers. This would be the most effective way to save lives. It is important that the world sees that Russia is showing nothing but a desire to kill and continue waging war. Ukraine must not be left to face this alone, and it is solely Russia’s fault that the war is still going on and people are still dying. Please take care of yourselves. All partners should stand with Ukraine – with the protection of lives.
