The attempt to arugula-ize Obama’s Cheesecake Factory comment is actually insane. The reason the joke landed is precisely *because* it was relatable to folks who go to the Cheesecake Factory. Elitism woulda been him referring to French Laundry as if everyone goes there. Just because conservative media elites are too dumb to get the joke doesn’t mean it was a bad joke. It just means they are dumb.

Case now goes to the OH Supreme Court but the ruling is a big deal. The fact that vouchers mostly fund kids already in private school could turn out to be a big legal liability because it’s what sets up a separate state system.
Also, the decision explicitly frames private schools’ right to choose within its legal argument (the first time as far as I know)
The “use of 'EdChoice' is misleading, given that the school 'choice' is with the private schools not the parents.”

Pope Leo is right.
Art is not some kind of superfluous luxury that can be eliminated from our lives. It is a crucial part of the human experience.
We cannot let Big Tech oligarchs destroy it.
In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.
