Whilst it's good to have weekly things happening for news items for my newsletter, these massive security breaches aren't the kind of news I had in mind. And they're getting more and more frequent ☹️ Why can't people just be decent human beings and not attack other people's stuff?! 😠 I know that's not the world we live in - but it would be nice!
Really enjoying @StevenBartlett's Diary of a CEO podcast. Some really fascinating guests and conversations. Highly recommended!
We’re opening a research preview of Claude Duet, a new app where Claude works as a proactive agent.
It comes to you with what needs your attention, completes tasks you ask of it, keeps working when you step away, and checks with you before it acts on your behalf.
Your coding agent wants out of the IDE. 🤖🏃

Turns out agentic workflows can automate a lot more than code. 👀

Do you use the CLI for your coding agent (Claude Code CLI, GitHub Copilot CLI, Codex CLI, etc.), or the desktop app variant? Or an editor/IDE extension?
Until recently, I've been heavily all in on the CLI.
But now I'm using Claude Code in the desktop app, and the GitHub Copilot Desktop app (for a client where we use GHCP).
And I must admit, the desktop/GUI versions do add a lot of niceties that the CLI doesn't. Useful inline elements and various sidebar panels, etc.

OpenSpec is about to get 10x better.
We've spent the past year learning from developers and teams using OpenSpec every day.
Now we're bringing those lessons into our own custom-built agent harness.
Our goal is simple: help developers stay involved in the decisions that matter, better understand the work being done, and ultimately have greater confidence in what agents produce.
A completely new way to experience OpenSpec.
We'll be releasing an early preview next week. Stay tuned!
30,401 merges in one day 🤯

I'm starting a new meetup in Porto (Portugal) for software engineers building with AI: AI Engineering Porto.
The first session is Tuesday 13 October.
It's an experiment. I don't know yet if people will leave the house on a Tuesday evening for this. That's what I want to find out.
The theme is simple: agents make teams faster. What does that cost?
It's free, in English, and for engineers building with AI and the leaders who have to make it work.
Seats are limited. Register here:

I am 100x more excited about this long-missing feature than any possible AI integration
Not everything that is useful and practical for users has to be AI! In fact...
(I love this new change coming inside GDocs)
It's coming along nicely! 😊🎙️
Podcast editing is by far what takes the most of my time as part of hosting a podcast. Whilst I would like to just outsource it - the amount of editing I actually do on an episode would cost a small fortune to pay someone else to do it. So I've starting using AI to create a bespoke podcast editor so I can really fine-tune and automate my workflow as tightly as possible. I've used @mattpocockuk `/wayfinder` skill quite a bit recently and it's been amazing for building various different projects - so I think this will be a really good fit for this project too, and I know Matt's done similar for his own bespoke video editor. I will keep you all posted on how the podcast editor build goes! 🤞
