I just spoke at the International Maternal Newborn Health Conference in South Africa! Pinch me 🥲 Our session was called Free From Harm: using the power of storytelling to tackle obstetric violence. Sharing my lived experience and experiences of other mothers through workshops at @motherhoodgroup, and how this has contributed to raising awareness of the Black maternal health in the UK. Alongside White Ribbon Alliance through the ‘safer beginnings programme’ we explored how storytelling can be an effective tool to tackle inequalities and harm in maternity settings. Let’s all continue the work to have our voices heard, collectively and even on global platforms to drive urgent action for the health of mothers and newborns by collaborating, adopting best practices and allow us to share our stories for change. #blackmaternalhealth #blackmaternalmentalhealth #imnhc2023
