learning autistic people have a higher tendency to end up in cults???…. has put a LOT in perspective for me as the only one in my family to recognize half of them are in one 😬

I love how this shitty superior traits that white neurodivergents want to pathologize and map onto the world with oversimplifying exacting surgical precision is immediately troubled if yr a Black ND woman bc EVERYONE including white NDs says this to you when you use big words 🤧
finding out that neurotypical people think you’re being condescending if you use big words was truly a joker moment for me

We broke down this whole paper on Time Theft Today! It was so fascinating hearing @drdevonprice break down this paper. The cis author herself was surprised by the result, and does not use the term transmisogyny once. We stream on twitch, Vod 🔗 below!

You’re saying they should try to build community and real connection outside of posting but their only orientation to sm platforms and their own sense of self and place is simply talking about themselves, so they think you’re saying “Find other ways to talk about yourself” 😩

yeah those are both equally ineffectual, self-centered ways to go about forming community, no wonder neither seems to be working. I recommend asking people about their thoughts and feelings. and listening and then responding with more interest and questions. to start.

What am I supposed to do? Run around and tell everyone in my neighborhood what my thoughts and feelings are?

you guys realize it's possible to have conversations with people and form ongoing mutually interdependent relationships to them online right. like. posting is not the only option.

I think this thread summed up a lot of the feelings I have been having. It’s been very perturbing to see some folks on here calling others “plague rats” and say that they hope that they get long COVID and see how they like it. Like how is that not just repackaged ableism?
A person who gets COVID bc of an unmasked exposure does not deserve to die. A person who gets HIV bc of a condomless exposure does not deserve to die. We have a duty to care for people regardless of health status, and to protect their lives as best we can no matter their actions
