Just realized I have over 40k pictures on flickr, and very few of them are properly tagged or organized. @flickr it's time to update your organizr app, and also make it available in your iOS app, because this is painful.

The brilliance of twitter was the focus on doing one thing, microblogging, really well. It was easy to explain and use, which made it successful. Perhaps having such a clear vision of purpose limits useful expansion or advertising opportunities. But it was great.

So, covid, a thing I just had for the first time. Lucky me, of course, to have it in a time with better treatment. So, the initial fever/bad week of covid is over, and now I feel as weak and awkward as bambi, and my brain is moving in slow-mo. #covid So, other than that. hello

Today I learned that the name "Cesare" is pronounced vastly differently depending on if it's italian verses french. "Chez-a-rey" vs "Seez-ar" which kinda blows my mind.

(As someone who reads a lot, that means I've likely mentally pronounced at least some historical/fiction names in my past.) I've never heard someone say 'Render unto Chez-a-ray...' around tax time, that's for sure #etymology #languages #names #pronunciation

A dear family friend, 'Uncle' Dan, passed away recently. He knew me as a baby/child, ran marathons with my dad in silly tuxedo shirts, and forever impacted my life with the gift of several years of @NatGeo which opened up a whole world of travel and arts.

bah, got scammed by some people who said they could lower my internet monthly fees, and I even asked them to verify some of my account info, which they somehow had. so... now i am getting a new credit card. props to @UWCreditUnion for staying on top of the bogus charges

Dear internet, I know I'm old, but the things I liked about twitter and instagram were actual photos/art from people, and witty comments from friends. Algorithms that prioritize advertising suck all the joy out. It's hard to monetize joy.

and sure, you can pivot your app/site to whatever you want, Instagram, but trying to be more like your competitor strips the dna out of why Insta was so compelling in the first place. If I want tiktok vids, I'll use tiktok, thanks.

It was still compelling and scrolled forever with mostly photos, but it was more meditative (at least for me as an artist) and less about people telling me how to think, act/buy or be angry at things.
