Considering this video shows the OO walking through a shared space unrestricted and being enjoyed by supporters, it further begs the questions of why they feel its necessary to walk through a nationalist residential area....
Parade underway in Portadown. Thousands have turned up in support of local Orangemen who want to march along the Garvaghy Road. @UTVNews

Them actively demonstrating why they have no need to walk down Garvaghy Road is brilliant stuff when you think about it 🤣

It's weird how saying "don't touch children against their will" is so offensive to so SO many people...

Every time Mary Lou comes to Northern Ireland, Sinn Féin’s ministers look like her supporting cast. Why are they not trusted to speak for themselves?

The people willing to argue that "kids don't have bodily autonomy" are seriously concerning!

Watch how the British press is about to hold Meghan more accountable for the crimes of her father than they held Andrew for the rape of minors or any other members of the Royal family for protecting and shielding him.
This Thomas Markle story is shocking, and if guilty, he must face full force of the law. But it raises a lot of questions: if police alerted Meghan in 2018 to allegations so serious she ended all contact, why was he not arrested? And why did she not go public to protect others?

So many right wingers coming out to put the woman's desire for a kiss above the child's desire to be left alone. So the child should learn to accept that their body must be available for another person's gratification? Consent shd be modeled & respected from toddlerhood.
Who is the Irish State [& NGOs] to tell grandparents if, when and how they can hug their grandchildren ? Were taxpayers asked their consent if their money could be wasted in this way? Of course not. The State has stolen far too much of our tax money to waste among its ideolical friends who are intent on destroying the family, the basis of Ireland' s future. The official Woke state has declared war on the Irish nation. Four Organisations involved in "don't hug ad" 1. CUAN - a state agency. 2. Community Foundation Ireland, 3. Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, and 4. We-Consent.

It seems this is a case of our government having a kneejerk reaction to Religious Right international pressure, and we really should be past withdrawing ads about consent at the behest of the Religious Right in Ireland, for obvious reasons, right?

Consent exists in every relationship. Deeply weird to get angry over the idea that young people have boundaries.
Replying to @OCallaghanJim
While it is vital to ensure that people understand the concept of consent when it comes to sexual relationships, this video did not advance that aim and in many ways was counterproductive.

We are not demeaned by this video Isn't this the very problem? The feelings of older relatives prioritised over the discomfort of children It was like that in my childhood Nothing has changed Kids need to know their discomfort matters, & we will pay attention to it #WeConsent
The video produced by the DRCC involving grandparents does not represent the views of the Government. It was both inappropriate and demeaning to grandparents and has been removed by DRCC following my officials engagement with them.

Rape Crisis Centres have heard many, many cases of children forced to kiss relatives who were secretly abusing them When they expressed discomfort, they were dismissed, told off @DublinRCC1 know what they are talking about Reaction shows the message is badly needed #WeConsent

What a day! The idea that children should shoulder the discomfort of unwanted physical touch because the adults can't handle the discomfort of a conversation on consent if mind blowing 🤯 So many adults who clearly need to build a bit of resiliency.

Denying consent to physical touch is not weakness. Another example of why this conversation is needed.
Replying to @drorfh @johhnywtnq
Yeah, well, I didn't like kissing my very sweaty grandmother, either. I'm glad I did, though. A natural inclination towards the elderly is sadly not my strength. I'm glad my parents didn't cultivate my WEAKNESS. Also glad my others "sensitivities" were "disrespected" - it's a lot better having grit and endurance than a list of things I can't handle.

Do I think there Ireland has a cultural issue with forcing children to give hugs & kisses to adults to prove their love & not hurt the adults feelings. 100% yes. Do I think this impacts children's boundaries and reduces the importance of consent for physical touch. Absolutely.
Replying to @drorfh
It's unnecessary and it is propaganda, not a well thought-out ad to educate those who are the ones actually in need of learning the rules of "consent". Do you think people are that stupid? Please.
