Yesterday
Sugabelly: most of the work/hardwork in igboland are done by women.
Everybody: yess, it's true.
Today:
Igbo women on the TL yesterday: igbo women don't want to work, they were raise to be odogwus wife.
Everybody : yes it's true , they don't own anything.
This "pregnancy is not a death sentence" debate exposes one critical flaw that most women have, which is: personalising a generic fact, even for a trivial issue.
For example, if you say, "most women are shorter than men," without fail, you'll have a ton of women saying, "I know a girl in my family that is taller than men."
Sis, that is not the point. The point is, whether you know 4 girls in your family that are taller than men or not, on the average, most men are taller than women.
If you bring it to this pregnancy argument, I notice that, especially for women who haven't birthed a child yet, they personalise the stories of those who have encountered complications in child birth and are prone to agree with the take of "pregnancy is a death sentence."
The general statistic is irrelevant to a woman, either educated or not. They deal promordially on anecdotal evidence and that wiring skews objective evidence.
The average global child mortality rate is 200 per 100,000 pregnant women that generate complications. Or a 0.1% mortality rate.
This means that 99.9% of women that go through the path of pregnancy are delivered of successfully, globally. 99.9% is almost 100%.
Should we commiserate with those who get complications during child birth? Yes. But should we drop in mindless conclusive talks on the death sentence of a natural process? No.
Pregnancy is NOT a death sentence.

Replying to @Original_Ebo
African immigrants prove it’s not about skin color. Nigerians, Ghanaians and others routinely outperform African Americans in education, income and family stability despite identical appearance. The difference is attitude and culture, work ethic, family structure and refusal to treat victimhood as identity—not melanin.

"Patriarchy is not why you are suffering. Patriarchy is why you are ALIVE to complain."
Damn!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Patriarchy existed to STOP OTHER MEN.
You really think men invented patriarchy to hold YOU down? You are too weak, too fragile, too irrelevant for men to waste invention on you.
Men invented patriarchy to protect their lands, food, money, resources, women and children FROM MEN.
500 years ago women didn't know what patriarchy was because it was SURVIVAL.
No police. No 911. No guns. No cell phones. If a rival tribe wanted you, they killed your men, raped you, took your land, took your food, and married you off to their sons or kept you as maids, servants, and sex slaves. That was history.
Patriarchy said: TOUCH HER AND YOU DIE. She belongs to this man, this family, this tribe. That was not oppression. That was a DEATH THREAT to other men to keep you safe.
Pregnancy = 9 months useless. Breastfeeding mother can't run, can't fight, baby cries and brings wolves.
Who hunted? MEN.
Who fought bears? MEN.
Who fought other men? MEN.
Who built houses in snow? MEN.
Who died in wars? 90% MEN.
If men left women alone to be "independent" in 1500, you would have gone EXTINCT in one winter. No food. No fire. No protection.
You are alive today because of patriarchy.
Modern luxury - AC, Uber Eats, iPhone, birth control, police made yall RETARDED and ungrateful. You think world was always safe.
You think animals don't hunt humans for food?
Who stopped all these? Patriarchy. Men who built walls, laws, armies, civilization so you can sit on TikTok with fake eyelashes and say "patriachy oppress me."
You are not oppressed. You are PROTECTED and too dumb to know it.
Without patriarchy, you wouldn't be CEOs. You'd be extinct or a sex slave to the strongest man in your own village that’s been conquered by the enemy.
Patriarchy is not why you are suffering. Patriarchy is why you are ALIVE to complain.

Women and emotions….
Dr Mary, if your patient who has just gotten pregnant comes to your clinic for antenatal, and they ask you if pregnancy is a death sentence, what will your response be??
Also,
Dr Mary, is malaria a death sentence?
Because , according to the World Health Organization (WHO), malaria kills significantly more people in Africa each year than pregnancy and childbirth-related complications.
I was a Doctor for years before my first pregnancy. I had the theoretical knowledge. I had walked people through the path, done ceaserian sections, delivered vaginally assisted and none assisted, but NOTHING prepared me for My Pregnancy journey. At a point, even though I consider myself a relatively nice doctor, I had to start apologizing to all the patients I had come across…
I realized knowing something and experiencing something are just 2 absolutely different things…
I used to defend that Mummy Zee lady on this app before the Pregnancy shii bluff…I used to think she was targeted but I realized she’s actually not a kind person… the way she was doubling down in the comment section before she deleted the whole insensitive post…
That shii hit a nerve in me…for the pregnant women that was brought in dead due to eclampsia, for the one we lost on the operating table and we all shed hot tears, for the ones that had to deal with post partum complications for the rest of the their lives…for myself and my pregnancy journey; the one that stayed and the one that messed me up so bad and still left…
