So as we bring things to a close. We want to remind you that we are not islands. We must all remember the importance of small steps (relevant for our patients too!) - but know when we’ve reached our limits & where to get help. Over & out from @drdebbieford @drsychologist #thanks
Monday marks the beginning of #SelfCareWeek (14th-20th November), which focuses on prompting self care of others and ourselves. Any ideas on how you could do this for yourself and your team? Check out @SelfCareForum for more info, resources, and tips.

@drdebbieford & @drsychologist we are going to organise a virtual lunch for the team one day this week. A chance to connect, catch up, and importantly eat!!
It’s a happy sunny Saturday to you all from @drsychologist & @drdebbieford - at the end of the takeover we take some time to reflect on the importance of taking good care in the work you do. Because a) it’s a basic human need 2) it’s EBP 3) there are consequences if we don’t!

Here's a great sketchnote from @BurnhamLandD on how leaders can enable a powerful culture of psychological safety in the workplace. The ways we behave, the relationships we build & the things we give priority to, create the conditions that enable our teams to do their best work.

'Debrief' is used interchangeably, refers to different processes and meetings & can be facilitated by various professionals. This highlights the importance of teams having a structured, evidence based pathway around staff support following a potentially traumatic event.

Debriefs are important and a well-known process in bringing teams together, sharing experiences and expertise, and supporting each other after a potentially traumatic event. However, the evidence base is mixed and controversial. Language plays a big part in this...

There is no doubt we all care about the work we do and also those we work with. Bringing teams together, offering some space to come together, share, normalise and validate is something we are very passionate about.

We are understanding more and more the psychological impact of life as a health care professional. Being exposed to a broad range of professional, ethical and clinical practice issues, can result in feelings of stress leading to burnout.

This is me, doing what I ❤, dropping in, saying hi, a chance for me to meet staff and offer them time and space to ask me any questions about our service. Building trust and embedding ourselves into the system is significant to the work we do, so staff/teams feel safe to use us.

So why is this valuable? 1. Healthcare staff are human (no arguments here!) 2. We often care deeply about the work 3. We are exposed to cumulative challenge (which can help us thrive) 4. When we fall, we can fall hard - so we need to protect one another #protect
