CALL TO ACTION: After 8pm on Election Day, Michigan law guarantees ability to take a photo of the election tabulator tapes at nearby election day, early voting and absentee vote counting board locations.
Please visit your local poll locations and capture copies of these tapes and post them with hashtag #2026tapes noting county, municipality, precinct, and type of voting center (Election Day, Early Voting, Absentee Vote Counting Board).
If tapes have not been made available, please notify the election inspector that:
“I am an interested person present for the public precinct canvass. Under MCL 168.807, please make the completed precinct results available when the canvass is complete. The Bureau of Elections’ closing instructions call for posting one copy of the totals tape.”
If met with obstruction, contact local law enforcement and advise them of the violation of statute.
Please ensure that you capture full length of each tabulator tape. The beginning and end (should be signed by poll inspectors) are especially important.
Why important?
- Documents vote tally audit trail should results of election be in question
- Votes have been observed to have flipped between tabulator and certified county results
- By reviewing Zero and Results tapes, you can have increased confidence that the tabulator was not "pre-loaded" with votes
- Serial number information enables investigation into whether or not a logic and accuracy test was performed for the applicable machine

Michigan's 3rd-grade reading scores are 44th in the nation, similar to where Mississippi's scores were in 2013 (49th).
Today, Mississippi is 9th overall after making common-sense changes. It's time for Michigan to do the same:
1. Training teachers in phonics
We led the way and got phonics training for teachers secured in the new state budget.
2. Literacy investments
We pushed hard this year for early childhood literacy funding and secured millions for coaches, curricula, & more.
3. Better direction for schools and resources for teachers
We focused the Department of Education on lesson plans that have proven results.
4. Read-by-third-grade guardrails
Michigan Democrats repealed the read-by-third-grade law that used to allow for extra resources and interventions for students that fell behind. We advanced plans to reinstate it this year because our kids deserve to succeed, not be set up to fail down the line.
House Republicans are leading the way in Michigan to get back to basics, equip teachers to help students, & assist those who fall behind rather than passing them on unprepared.
