We have a loved one scheduled to be on this flight. He will be killed if he’s returned to the Taliban. He supported the US mission in Afghanistan. He has broken no laws. He came here legally. Seeking asylum should not be a death sentence.

Big guy-in-hotdog-suit energy from pretty much everyone mentioned in this article but specially the two alders.

This stretch of Milwaukee Avenue also contains the part that the current alderman helped proactively downzone, which now has vacant lots and several empty storefronts.

Ironically, it’s also where the 35th Ward office is located.
Why is Milwaukee Avneue: Belmont Avenue to Logan Boulevard still one of the only parts of Chicago's "Hipster Highway" that lacks protected lanes? We discuss the politics behind that decision in our latest Bike Fest post: NW and West sides.

Our children deserve results, not empty promises. As alderman, I will work tirelessly to ensure our public schools are strong and making decisions that center students, not political agendas.

MINNESOTA: “A vacant private prison offered to sell to the state for $75 million… One year later Trump used taxpayer funds to buy it from (BRENTWOOD, TN-BASED) @CoreCivic for $495.6 million…”
Actual fraud in Minnesota. Corruption in plain sight as Trump steers billions to his friends/Republican donors. @MarshaBlackburn

Anna Paulina Luna has voted six times to continue the Iran war. Now we might know why. Her husband owns 10% of Nokturnal AI, a drone startup she valued at just $1,000 in 2025 that has since raked in $37 million in Pentagon contracts. Coincidence? We don’t think so. Luna talks a big game about fighting corruption, but the rules never seem to apply when it’s her pockets that are being lined.

New: We found cops who kept using Flock to spy on women after they left the force.
One used it for five years after retirement, spying on his wife during a custody battle.
Another ran searches while he was suspended (and later fired) after killing a 15-year-old boy.

Behind closed doors, the DoD has made a bad habit of classifying the minimal details they choose to tell Congress. Why?
Because if it's classified, we can't talk about it and they can go on hiding the cost of this war from the public.
No more. Americans deserve to know.

Some pretty insane details on Gillibrand here including:
– Her comms director bought up to 30k of bitcoin and ether one week before Gillibrand announced a bill putting both under friendlier CFTC oversight.
– Her chief of staff invoked the Senator's role as the DSCC’s top fundraiser while pushing other Dem aides to back her crypto-friendly legislation
-Her 22-year-old son raised $30M for a startup that is backed by crypto investors, including a key Gillibrand donor.
Gillibrand on staff trading crypto: “I could care less what they do with their money. This is not a nanny state.”

I asked Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand if it bothers her that her staff trades crypto while she works on legislation that benefits the industry. “This is not a nanny state,” she said.

This story is extremely important:
A whistleblower revealed that Brazil's far-right Bolsonaro family dynasty met with Meta to discuss US plans to interfere in Brazil's election, to prevent Lula from winning.
Lula's Facebook and Instagram accounts were censored a few days before the first round of the presidential election.
This had a huge impact on the election, because Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, which are all owned by Meta, are the most popular apps in Brazil, and are hugely influential all across Latin America. (Jair Bolsonaro's son Flávio was declared the winner of the first round of the vote, by a narrow margin.)
Meta later admitted that Lula's accounts had been restricted, but it claimed that this was supposedly due to a "technical error"...
The whistleblower who disclosed this is Nadia Beller, a Bolivian journalist who was almost killed by hitmen hired by Fernando Cerimedo, a far-right Argentine political operative who oversees election interference, bots, and disinformation campaigns.
Cerimedo is closely linked to the US government and has worked for pretty much every right-wing leader in Latin America. He was photographed with Donald Trump Jr. and members of the Bolsonaro family, and he received an award at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida a few months before he was arrested for the failed assassination attempt against Beller, his pregnant ex-girlfriend.
