Saw The Dam Busters for the first time, expecting a regular war movie.
It might be one of the most relatable movies about engineering ever made.
When you're inventing a new solution from scratch, you need to be willing to try again, and again, and again x50 before you get your first success.
The whole time you're surrounded by normies who insist that new ideas are supposed to be "debunked" and thrown away if they didn't work the first time.
So I have a rule that if somebody responds to me with a clown face emoji it means there's something wrong with them.
Good time to think about how many of society's *other* trusted experts are just posers who've learned to act confident without contributing value.
What if there's always been this much cognitive dissonance and we're only noticing it's a problem as we move out of the dark ages of one-way media?
Have you noticed people are becoming immune to manipulation?
Boomers: "Oh no! I'd better do what the salesman says. What if the information superhighway arrives and I'm not teletext-ready?"
Zoomers: "cap"
Somebody called ages2001 has created a USB driver stack for DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, etc.
This is a big deal because previously, Windows 98 was the first Windows to work with USB.
Retro computing enthusiasts couldn't use earlier versions without needing to do really janky things to get their files across.

Information scientists: Welcome to the age of data science! Medical research can finally see important data in real time!
Medical researchers: We prefer fax machines and quarterly journals.
Engineers: We've shown why high-stakes decisions made via expert panels lead to disastrous outcomes!
Doctors: Don't tell us what to do.
AI researchers: Doctors are obsolete.
Doctors: We see no evidence to support that.
So, WSL = Windows Subsystem for Linux.
But it's actually a Linux subsystem for Windows?
It should be called LSW?
Universities advance knowledge when they let the people at the upper end do their thing.
Universities become dumb when the people in the middle start running the show.
