Your car title proves you own your vehicle. So why put it on a blockchain?
California’s DMV has digitized 42 million vehicle titles on Avalanche.
Here’s the simple breakdown:
What it is A digital record of vehicle ownership. Blockchain helps keep a shared history of those records that is difficult to secretly change.
Why it matters When you sell a car, ownership needs to be verified and transferred. Digital titles can help reduce paperwork, make transfers easier, and help protect against fraud.
What it means for you: The goal is a simpler process behind the scenes. You don’t need to understand crypto to benefit from a better system for managing your car title.
Think of it like moving from paper files to a digital system, with an added way to check that the ownership record hasn’t been altered.
This use extends beyond the U.S. Kenya is securing academic records on Avalanche, and the UAE is upgrading the document vault within its national digital identity platform.
