So many AI assistants have launched in the last few weeks with lots of fanfare and buzz. Instinct, Muse, Grokbot, and so many more. I've been trying them all. What I notice is that they are just slight variations of OpenClaw with different polish. (1/4)

We are taking a different approach at @orbit_me. We believe: 1) We believe it's easier for most people to use a familiar clickable interface to browse life's information and updates. You shouldn't have to be a prompt expert to get value from an AI assistant 2) We believe the backend should be a structured and maintained representation of your life, not an unstructured mix of text files. (I know this is a controversial point... but would anyone try to replace a CRM system with just a bunch of markdown files? why do we do that for your life's data?). Yes, it should have a computer and browser to help you with tasks, and we have that too. But you don't need to use it to get value. 3) We believe that many important things in your life will continue be settled face-to-face, not by AI bots. We assume this in our UI instead of pretending a bot can (or should) do all of your tasks and communications. (3/4)

It's time to think beyond the chat. People want outcomes, not agents. They want their time and attention back, not more chats to manage. teapaw.org/dxsimmons/status/20980…

I'm going to dress up as Claude Status for Halloween.
This is my halloween costume, assuming this will still be in the discourse that far out

Another great post by my co-founder Maximo Gurmendez! Email and messages are broken and destroying our ability to focus. At Orbit, we're building the technology to read and interact with messages in a new way. We see your email and messages as a stream of data about your life. We process it in real-time, and present it back to you, organized by Themes ("Orbits") and topics. Save your sanity and stop context switching all day! You can be *always informed without being always on*. open.substack.com/pub/maximo…

I’m excited to announce that we’re starting to open up the waitlist for Orbit.me!  The product is working as intended, and people are really loving their daily interactions. @orbit_me’s mission is to change your relationship with messaging. We are making it clearer, more actionable, and less stressful to keep up with all the emails and messages you get every day. I’m incredibly grateful to the early testers who have endured the bugs and our wild product swings as we furiously seek product-market fit. I hope it’s been fun for you to see the product evolve. It’s been fun to build it. If you would like to get in early, please sign up on the waitlist now. We will open it up in order of signup!

I've been studying up on how to do a better job of storytelling. It's a critical skill for a startup founder. I came across some interesting advice. * You know you have a good story if 10 more people can tell the same story with the same impact. * But, if the story only works when you tell it, it's a *performance*, not a story. * It's a performance because its impact relies upon you emphasizing just the right things and responding in just the right way to objections, in real-time. Other people can't do it. The narrative only lives in your head. The goal is to tell a story that's so simple and compelling that other people can tell it and want to tell it too.

Deep learning and LLMs are amazing breakthroughs in technology. I think the next major breakthrough will be a technology that will let me cut and paste a bulleted list of text from one app to another app such that it doesn't get completely screwed up every time.

This kind of of UX design issue drives me insane. There is no way to know what you picked. Simple solution: Just use “desktop sync” toggle on/off
congrats to spotify on the worst design of the year
