Today I'm open-sourcing Anti Tapes 🔊 Ten years ago, my brother and I started A\T as an experiment in interactive sound design. The idea was simple: what if interfaces and digital products had their own sound identity? Instead of individual sound files, you design an entire sound language from a single theme. Every sound is generated live, responding to interaction and context. As my focus shifts to other projects, it feels like the right time to open things up and see where others take it. The engine is now open source, and the studio is free for personal use.

Generative, adaptive, ambient interfaces are changing what we design and how people navigate through them. When an interface can redraw itself, what should we count? Clicks, or commitments? I wrote Three Depths of Interaction, with two interactive studies, to explore how interaction can stay understandable through access, orientation and resolution. Designers, researchers, and anyone interested in human interaction: read the argument, try the studies, and tell me where it breaks. adidot.com/three-depths

I've been working on a new type of hardware synthesizer. I'm opening a small alpha of its software version to musicians, producers, and sound designers. DM for details.

Time to dust off a few interaction ideas. NUI is a growing collection of interaction concepts. Each explores a single idea, gesture, physical metaphor, or way of seeing or hearing through an interaction. No frameworks. No templates. adidizdarevic.com/nui

Designing for interpreters that interpret interpreters We are no longer designing for users in the traditional sense. We are designing for interpreters who parse, reframe, and serve meaning before humans see the context. ↓

As spring unfolds and foliage, thanks to chlorophyll, enters its spectral peak, it also marks the start of a new infrared season. Something I’ve been drawn to for nearly a decade through full-spectrum photography. This year, I put together a dedicated page for the project (🔗 in comments). More to come, including high-quality studio prints.
