I'm happy to share that @ethereum Core Developers unanimously agreed to patch the issue because of the additional time we now have before Glamsterdam on Hoodi.
Sending my personal tons of thanks to all Core Devs ❤️
Dear staking protocols and delegated stakers of ethereum:native,
Glamsterdam hardfork is approaching @ethereum mainnet, and there is an important new attack on delegated staking that you should be aware of!

Now, we think "contracts just need to upgrade".
To me that is a massive erosion of values and of ambition for creating a durable execution environment.

Lido Glamsterdam on Hoodie Update
On yesterday’s ACDE #248 call, Ethereum core developers made the decision to postpone the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Hoodi testnet to allow for further investigation into how EIP-8037 and EIP-8038 interacts with mainnet contracts:
blog.ethereum.org/2026/10/22…
This testnet upgrade delay does not affect the mainnet Lido protocol, and no action is required from stETH or wstETH holders.
Since Lido’s Hoodi contracts had already been upgraded ahead of the previously scheduled October 26 activation, contributors are currently preparing a Hoodi vote to roll back the fork-specific changes and keep the testnet operational until a new upgrade date is set.
Lido DAO contributors are proactively coordinating the rollback with Lido Node Operators and the broader Ethereum ecosystem. If you operate a Hoodi node or validator, please make sure to check both your Execution and Consensus Layer clients for instructions reflecting the postponed activation before October 26.
Lido contributors have been screening EIP-8037 against Lido contracts since June and have found no breaking impact on the protocol’s core contracts so far, which has also been independently confirmed by ChainSecurity.
The review continues alongside the Ethereum core devs’ broader investigation.

Computer security space in meltdown over 0 days, CVEs, supply chain, and opsec attacks.
The EF: we cannot afford to improve the security, decentralisation, or permissionlessness of our validator set, quantum is the only thing we want to focus on. Don’t you know that years from now there could be a problem there?
We need to reconsider Hegota scope after this week imho.

For users it means staking from Arbitrum, Base, Linea or Optimism with no bridging step at all: no L1 gas, no withdrawal wait, wstETH arrives on the same chain in one transaction.
Great collaborative work by Lido DAO contributors, proud to be part of it 💧🙌
Direct staking on Ethereum L2s is live via the Lido UI.
Stake ETH on @arbitrum, @base, @LineaBuild & @Optimism in just a few clicks, all without manually bridging to Ethereum and back.

Less than 12h between @Nethermind PR merged and Reth PR opened.
Hard to be unique in AI times - we expected that :)
What matters is who brings the innovation and that should be higlighted.
This might not be widely known, but @Nethermind improvements don’t just benefit our client.
Other clients often follow our lead and adopt the same changes, so we’re raising the performance bar across the entire Ethereum and EVM ecosystem. 👇

Following last week’s infrastructure investigation, MetaMask Staking has nearly completed processing the exit of its Lido validators without incident. The exited ETH will continue its re-entry to the Lido protocol over the coming weeks. The operator disclosed the issue early and acted quickly, which kept the impact to stETH holders minimal.
As the final set of validators are completing their exits, stETH APR is 2.23% - at or above where it has been since August. stETH rewards come from a diverse set of over 600 independent Node Operators across the Curated and Community Staking Modules, so a precautionary exit by one of the larger operators in the protocol has a limited effect on total rewards. The recent reduction in the Ethereum entry queue also means newly staked ETH starts earning sooner, netting more rewards for all Lido stakers.
MetaMask Staking will publish a comprehensive post-mortem in the coming weeks.
Thanks to the community for your trust and confidence to keep Ethereum staking simple, secure, and decentralized.
Following an investigation into an infrastructure compromise, MetaMask Staking (ex Consensys Staking) has taken precautionary steps to protect client assets related to its operated Ethereum validators.
These steps include exiting its Ethereum (ETH) validators in the Lido protocol, and will likely incur foregone rewards as well as possible downtime penalties should validators be taken offline in the near future to reduce risks related to potential network penalties. Relevant validators have begun the exit process, with the final validators expected to be exited (but not fully withdrawn) by the end of October 7th, 2026.
No action is required from stETH holders. ETH exited from MetaMask Staking-operated validators is expected to return to the protocol gradually as the relevant validators complete the exit, withdrawal, and re-entry cycle, which is estimated to take approximately up to 45 days due to the extended entry queue. As a reminder, staking operations are non-custodial in nature and MetaMask does not manage withdrawal keys for staking on behalf of clients.
As always, the Lido Protocol’s diverse Node Operator set and other security systems including the ad hoc reserve fund (of over 6,750 stETH), are designed to contain and mitigate disruptions to the normal operations of the protocol, in addition to other potential routes.
