Detectives from the National Anti-Narcotics Investigations Bureau (NANIB), working with DCI officers from Webuye West, have seized 170.8 kilograms of cannabis along the Malaba-Webuye road in Bungoma County. The drugs were discovered inside a white Mazda CX-5, registration number KDY 338F, which detectives had been tracking following intelligence reports. According to the DCI, the driver noticed the officers and sped off, triggering a chase that ended when the vehicle crashed into a red TVS motorcycle. The motorcycle rider, identified as Muzungu Munialo, sustained fatal injuries, while the driver abandoned the Mazda and escaped. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered 162 bales of cannabis wrapped in yellow tape, with an estimated street value of Sh5,124,000. Detectives also recovered a second number plate, KF2 8588, suspected to have been intended to conceal the vehicle's identity. The vehicle and drugs have been taken for further investigations as detectives pursue the fleeing driver and investigate the suspected trafficking network.

An autopsy has revealed disturbing details surrounding the death of 86-year-old Dorita Macharia, mother of Kenyan actress Regina Re. Government pathologist Dr Bernard Midia said she died from excessive bleeding after suffering multiple stab wounds to the neck, which damaged major blood vessels. The examination, conducted at Lee Funeral Home, also revealed more than 20 other injuries, including cuts to her face, neck and arms. Pathologists further discovered a fracture on her left upper arm. According to Dr Midia, the injuries appeared to have been inflicted using a very sharp object, possibly a blade or knife. Dorita was found dead inside her home at Loresho Ridge Estate on the night of October 30, 2026, following an alleged disagreement involving her granddaughter, Thandie Malaika. Court documents indicate that the disagreement reportedly started after Dorita allegedly found her granddaughter in a compromising situation with her boyfriend. A commotion reportedly followed before the elderly woman was discovered lying in a pool of blood. The autopsy was conducted in the presence of detectives, pathologists and lawyers representing both the deceased and the accused. Dorita's lawyer, Philip Murgor, said the exercise had established the cause of death, leaving detectives to determine who was responsible and the motive behind the killing.
