One stat that puts the idea of AI search into context, based on a Bank of America-Merrill Lynch report: emerging AI platforms/sites, of which Perplexity and Claude are just the two largest, get the same amount of traffic in a day Google gets in 4 minutes 20 seconds

‘We’re going to come after people in the media’, a potential Trump pick for FBI director or attorney general has said.
“We will stand up to these threats, but it will take brave, well-funded independent journalism,” writes editor-in-chief Katharine Viner theguardian.com/us-news/2024…
In his speech declaring victory, Trump called media "the enemy camp". But not all media. Just media that aren't sympathetic to him. theguardian.com/us-news/2024…

We're hiring! We need a Senior Editorial Analytics Manager to lead a talented team helping the Guardian use data responsibly and impactfully in the newsroom. Upside is it's a brilliant job in a brilliant place. Downside is that you'd have to work with me workforus.theguardian.com/jo…
Google started testing #AIOverviews here in Sept, but I'd never seen one until last night. Turns out they're fully rolled out in Australia now (Google blog: blog.google/intl/en-au/compa… ) and pulling @GuardianAus content — but not our "news" content that I've seen (and shouldn't)
Noticed lifestyle type queries were getting #AIO, so tried this and it 'worked' immediately as I suspected it might. AIO using @GuardianAus's Closet Clinic series on many of the relevant searches for those pieces
On this one the #aioverview links🔗 reference @guardianaus twice and pulls from across three paragraphs in the copy
