"Perhaps the most significant omission in the clinical and academic discourse on BPD is the failure to acknowledge that the diagnosis itself generates tremendous harm.”
An honour to contribute to this, read it here 👇
Our Chair Laurence has authored a paper in collaboration with @eatsleeplaugh, @Keirwales, and @jsandi27. The article is called “Dismantling the Diagnostic Construct of Borderline Personality Disorder: A Critical Discourse Analysis."

INQUEST is deeply concerned by deaths occurring at Priory run mental health units nationally.
Issues raised at recent inquests around risk assessment, observations, and addressing known dangers are occurring time and time again. Yet no action is taken.

It’s #EatingDisordersAwarenessWeek, so let’s talk about eating disorders and suicide - one of the many reasons they can be fatal:🧵

Slimming World has grown women moistening Weetabix with water, covering it in Quark and pretending they’re at The Cheesecake Factory.
It’s a fucking dangerous cult.

The term “witch hunt” is overused in politics. Perhaps not this time. Quite a bit of the British media should ask themselves some serious questions as to whether the tenor and volume of the coverage they gave to this man was remotely proportionate. Likewise there are questions for Cambridge- and whether they discharged their duty of care.
JASON ARDAY has been found dead.
Arday was found “unresponsive” at an address in Battersea on Friday afternoon. He was later pronounced dead.
A spokesman for the Met said officers were called by the London Ambulance Service at 3.12 p.m.
“Sadly, a 41-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.
At this time his death is being treated as unexpected, but is not believed to be suspicious. The case is being investigated by officers from the Met’s Central South Command Unit. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Love hearing about how disgusting I was when I was dying from the most fatal mental illness. We can deglamourise anorexia without being horrible to the people who live with. We already hate ourselves, we don’t need other people piling on top of that.

You’re not “low maintenance” you’re pretending you don’t have needs so you don’t take up space, which is different.

Another young woman with an EUPD diagnosis failed catastrophically by the NHS & staff who actively harm patients with this dx / self-harming behaviour in general. Awful.

"If i were you" might be the most pointless hypothetical. If you were me you would do exactly what i did cuz you'd be me
It's a million degrees on the ward and a nurse just accused me of water loading for drinking two 200ml cups of water in a row.
EDU rules are next level ridiculous at times.
