WILL TO DEVELOP: THE MISSING INGREDIENT IN AFRICA’S QUEST FOR DEVELOPMENT - PT 1
Why are we underdeveloped economically and technologically in Africa? Is it due to lack of knowledge of what it takes to develop a country or lack of resources, human or material? ....
Looking at the faces, the eyes and utterances of most of our leaders in Africa, you can see that the urgent development of the continent is not in their scheme of essentials. Rather, it is the politics of pecuniary interests and perpetuation in office that drives them.
African leaders make development look like rocket science; it is not. Take Nigeria, 230m talented people strong, what's so difficult in developing the country? Leaders have really not prioritised development, that's why countries like Vietnam are developing and Nigeria is not.
President Ruto of Kenya has been a huge disappointment. He started out seemingly well and I applauded him. He seemed like a Pan Africanist and a resurrection of our late Kwame Nkrumah, but now he has shown himself to be a sell out and a despot. What a shame!
Beyond borders, I am African - a Pan African - carrying Zulu fire, Maasai sunrise, Songhai river, Luo moonlight, Akan wisdom, Berber winds, Shona earth, Amhara song. Our histories, our gods, our rhythms fuse in my soul. In our unity, I find my truest self.
I am Ikwerre-born, heart drumming in Port Harcourt’s pulse—and yet my spirit weaves through every corner of Nigeria’s tapestry: I stand as Ijaw canoe drifting on the Delta, Yoruba drumming at Osogbo, Hausa melody in Kano’s breeze, Tiv laughter under Benue skies…I am all of us.
The key to reliable electricity is commitment to policy consistency. South Korea’s success came from government-backed industrial energy policies & tech-driven solutions. Nigeria must decentralize power generation, attract investors, & prioritize maintenance. #PowerNigeria
Countries like China, Singapore, & South Korea fixed power through long-term plans: diversified energy sources, public-private investments, and anti-corruption reforms. Nigeria must do the same—focus on renewables, modernize grids, & ensure transparent execution. #EnergyReform
Dear leaders, industrialists, and global partners, Nigeria’s industrial revolution hinges on solving our power crisis. The benefits are undeniable: industrial growth, better livelihoods, & global competitiveness. Step up. Partner. Transform. The time is now! #EnergyForNigeria
No nation thrives industrially without stable electricity. While the world advances, Nigeria struggles with blackouts. The solution requires govt policy shifts, private sector investment, & strategic partnerships. What are we waiting for? #PowerNigeriaNow
The entrepreneurial spirit of Nigerians is unmatched, but the lack of reliable power stifles growth. Fixing power generation & transmission isn’t just infrastructure—it’s the key to unlocking innovation, jobs, & prosperity. Stakeholders, this is your call to action! #FixPower
🇳🇬 Nigeria, a nation of 230M people with immense talent & abundant resources, still grapples with inadequate power supply—a 70-year-old challenge. Imagine the industrial revolution we could spark by fixing this. The time to act is now. Let’s power Nigeria’s future! #EnergyReform
Nigeria is hugging France at a time when former Francophone countries like Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Chad are driving France away, making many to be puzzled and afraid of the outcome. Perhaps Nigeria knows something the others do not!
Dangote has shown love and devotion to this country, much more than all his detractors. We should encourage him to do more while he still can. We should also encourage the Otedolas, Elumelus, Adenugas and Rabius.
To me, Aliko Dangote is the number One Citizen of Nigeria. He is a National Treasure. The country should better encourage and protect him and others like him if we really want to take development seriously.
It boggles the mind; given what we know about GMO-based foods, how can Nigeria approve GMO to come into the country? What a shame! It will be deleterious to our foods, our health and our self reliance.
The future is full of challenges AND opportunities:
• Tech unemployment vs new industries
• Data privacy concerns vs improved quality of life
• Environmental risks vs sustainable solutions
How can we shape a better tomorrow for all? #FutureChallenges #HumanProgress
