I went through Anthropic's S-1 filing, expecting its $80.7 billion reported loss to be the most surprising number.
Instead, I found myself looking at where the money is flowing.
Amazon and Google are investing billions into Anthropic. But they're also among the companies Anthropic is contractually committed to paying billions for computing infrastructure.
Just look at these numbers:
→ At least $110 billion committed to Amazon.
→ Approximately $114.5 billion committed to Google.
→ Around 48% of H1 2026 revenue generated through cloud marketplaces.
In other words, Anthropic's strategic backers stand to benefit from its rising valuation, infrastructure spending, and expanding distribution network.
Which brings me to a bigger question:
Could the biggest financial winners from the Al boom be the companies selling the infrastructure rather than those building the models?
It's an interesting possibility when the same companies can participate in the upside of an investment while collecting payments from the business they're backing.

Six billionaires reportedly left California before a proposed wealth tax could catch them, removing $536 billion from its potential tax base.
I found the timing particularly striking because the measure hasn't even faced voters yet.
Could more departures follow?
In my latest for @TheStreet, I explored how California's billionaire tax fight is challenging assumptions about taxing the ultrawealthy.

About a month ago, @MorningstarInc highlighted my reporting for @TheStreet, where I examined Bank of America’s warning that excessive bullish positioning could leave the S&P 500 vulnerable to a pullback.

Why We Don’t Invite Guest Artists to Our Church — Pastor Dolapo Lawal Reveals
Pastor Dolapo Lawal explained in one of his sermons why his church does not invite guest artists simply to attract a crowd.
He said, “If you can’t come to church for the Word of God, stay at home.”
He explained that Pastor Nathaniel Bassey is a prophet, which is why he was invited to their camp meeting. He added that the invitation was not motivated by a desire to attract a large crowd.
Pastor Dolapo Lawal also expressed concern about what he described as false salvation in today’s Christianity, arguing that many people who attend church in this generation have not genuinely experienced salvation.

5 OF THE LARGEST TEN BANKS IN THE US HAVE NOW ENTERED A BEAR MARKET TERRITORY.
Bank of America: -23.5%
Wells Fargo: -20.1%
Goldman Sachs: -24%
Morgan Stanley: -24%
Capital One: -25%
Along with this, the KBW Nasdaq Bank Index has dropped 15.6% from its peak and has hit a 5-month low.
Historically, bank stocks peak before the recession, and if this decline continues, it'll be a sign that there's a lot of trouble ahead for the US economy.

Crypto exchanges may have little reason to sell your data.
Why? Because keeping it could be much more valuable, especially as AI agents begin making financial decisions on your behalf.
@KyleReidhead explains what that future could look like.

The best kind of cheque as a startup founder is from repeat investors—people who come back to say, ‘Take more of my money.’ We had three such occurrences last week, and it makes me glad.
It sends the message: “We believe in you, and we're here with you.”

Thanks to @AARPpolicy for spotlighting my recent story for @TheStreet.
Why are Americans paying more for the same prescription medications becoming cheaper in other countries?
I explored AARP’s findings, including the striking difference in pricing trends, and what these numbers tell us about the challenges surrounding prescription drug affordability.
U.S. prices for 25 top-selling brand-name drugs rose by an average of 81% after launch, while prices for the same drugs fell by an average of 13% across 19 comparable countries, according to @AARP research highlighted by @TheStreet. Read more: spr.ly/6017BGfEUt #DrugPrices
