🧟‍⚡ Energy vampires devour electricity while you sleep. Energy vampires (or phantom loads) draw power even when they’re off. After dark, walk through your home and count all the little lights that are on; those are the energy vampires lurking in your home. Use smart power strips to turn them off automatically. They'll bite your wallet too, if you let them. Safety Tip: Unplug what you're not using and give your outlets a break. #EnergyVampires #ElectricalSafety #CoopsMS

Take a minute this month to check the cords around your home. Look for fraying, cracks, exposed wires, or damage near plugs. A worn cord can overheat and spark a fire without warning. If you spot damage, replace the cord or the device rather than trying to patch it up. A quick inspection now can prevent a serious hazard later. 🔥⚠️ #FirePrevention #CheckCords #ElectricalSafety #CoopsMS

🏡 Did you know a single LED bulb can last up to 25 times longer than a traditional incandescent bulb? That means fewer trips up the ladder and fewer bulbs headed to the landfill. LEDs also hold up better to frequent on and off switching, making them a great fit for porch lights, closets, and any fixture you use throughout the day. What room in your house is overdue for an upgrade? ✨ #NationalLEDLightDay #LightItUp #EnergyEfficient #CoopsMS

Nicole Akins Boyd: From Youth Tour pioneer to state senator Before she was a Mississippi State Senator, Nicole Akins Boyd was a 17 year old from Oxford, chosen as the state's very first delegate to the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour back in 1986. Although Sen. Boyd attended the Youth Tour of Washington, D.C. with the Tennessee delegation, she represented her home state and her local electric cooperative, @NorthEastPower. Four decades later, she credits that trip to Washington, D.C. with shaping her path into public service. "I learned very early on about the need to understand very, very important policy matters, and that has stayed with me. I don't see anything around the country that does something like the Youth Tour for rural areas.” Sen. Boyd was recently highlighted in a feature article from RE Magazine, which is the premier publication for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (@NRECANews). cooperative.com/remagazine/a… #YTDC #MS2DC #MSCYL #YT26 @NicoleAkinsBoyd

🌀 Did you know your ceiling fan has a summer AND a winter setting? In the summer, your ceiling fan blades should spin counterclockwise when viewed from below. This pushes cool air straight down, creating a wind chill effect that makes the room FEEL cooler, even without lowering your thermostat! Check the small switch on the side of your fan's motor housing to make sure you're set for summer. A properly set ceiling fan can make you feel up to 4 degrees cooler. And remember to turn off the fan when you leave the room.❄️💨 #TipsToStayCool #CeilingFan #SummerCooling #FanDirection #CoopsMS
