After many hours and days of struggling, I'm finally done with #flareon11! Thanks to the FLARE team for this set of occasionally painful and educational challenges. Definitely learned some new stuff this year!

In extreme cases where settings or other dnSpy configuration files are corrupted, you can force dnSpy to skip loading them by holding down the Shift key when starting dnSpy and clicking 'No' on the message box that appears. This is equivalent to deleting the files.
