I think we’re losing sight of what a fandom actually is. Nobody should feel obligated to create anything to earn their place in a community. And creating art or writing fics doesn't make you superior to anyone else. You're sharing a hobby, not doing anyone a favor

Something that does get me is that every time I make a fic post and it blows up I get people in my comments talking to me like I'm not an author, and instead I am some malicious third party that couldn't ever understand the hardships of being a fanfiction author on the internet

can you believe that this was originally supposed to be a 2-3 chapter reflection fic and then i just....couldn't stop writing it!!! that's why the fic gets more elaborate w each chapter. i had intended for this to be a brief little side project and it became a beast hehe

idk one time i commented "i wish i could give this endless kudos" on a fanfic and the author very condescendingly replied "or you could write an actual comment instead". we don't know what it is that some of you specifically want, sometimes commenting is already too much lmao
