I’m grateful to Senate President Designate Jim Boyd for his confidence in asking me to serve as Chair of the Senate Committee on Appropriations for the upcoming legislative term.
President Boyd understands the importance of bringing people together, and I appreciate the thoughtful leadership and experience he brings to this next chapter of the Florida Senate. I look forward to serving alongside him and the leadership team he is assembling.
Having previously chaired Appropriations in the Florida House and most recently the Senate Appropriations Committee on Health and Human Services, I know firsthand that developing a responsible state budget is a team effort. It requires listening, finding common ground, and working together to balance the needs of communities across Florida.
Every Senator brings a unique perspective and an understanding of the people and communities they represent. Those voices matter, and I believe our best work happens when we respect those perspectives and work toward a common goal.
I appreciate President Boyd’s trust and look forward to working with my colleagues to develop a fiscally responsible budget that reflects the priorities of Floridians.
We have an important responsibility ahead of us, and I’m proud to be part of the team entrusted with carrying it forward.

You’ve seen the headlines. Now, what does this FDA approval mean for patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer?
Here are three things to know about daraxonrasib (Rasonque):
1️⃣ It targets RAS, a major driver of pancreatic cancer that researchers spent decades trying to reach with a drug.
2️⃣ In a Phase 3 trial, median overall survival was 13.2 months with daraxonrasib compared with 6.7 months with standard chemotherapy.
3️⃣ It’s a once-daily pill, offering another treatment option beyond traditional chemotherapy for some patients.
