Last night Tristan Kirk won the 2024 Paul Foot Award for his investigation into how the "single justice procedure" makes justice impossible for people without the means or wherewithal to challenge the system, creating a conveyor belt system that has removed humanity and fairness from the law.

- IEA, Policy Exchange etc don't declare their donors. They're registered 'non partisan' charities. But their trustees have given *500 times more to Tories than Labour + LD
- Tufton Street think tanks had >150 meetings with Tory ministers since 2020
- Media loves them. They're in British newspapers >15 times per day

On this day in 2017, @emmayoule reported on @JasonEvansF8 legal case taken by @Collins_Law and evidence which wouldn't have existed were it not for the late great Frank Field. Frank campaigned over decades on the Infected Blood Scandal.
The amazing @cazjwheeler helped us to highlight the document mentioned in this article during her time at @Daily_Express (Check her on @BBCNewsnight last night on #ContaminatedBlood too!) - express.co.uk/news/uk/810179…
The @DHSCgovuk had told @DianaJohnsonMP they didn't have the document but we found it in @UkNatArchives.
Months later, this legal case went on to become a group litigation and @Collins_Law now have over 1,500 clients impacted by the infected blood scandal. What happens with that group litigation very much depends on how @cabinetofficeuk respond to @bloodinquiry compensation recommendations.
Infected Blood Inquiry publishes its final report on Monday 20th May.
