That's what I'm here for! Forget the numbers and angles... bounce is just grass displaced.

What if it was revealed that @hovihead and I were both women.

No I stare pensively into the middle distance. Imagining distance.

If you guys ever wondered what I look like, it’s this. I never golf engineer without my engineering jacket.
Feel perfected begins long before the first swing.

I dig it. Golf (especially amateur golf) is more about minimizing disaster than it is being a hero. Bounce can help with that when done right.

Everyone needs to go thru the yips at least once. You’ll emerge stronger.

If I make a -2° wedge would you buy it?

Mark Crossfield and I made a video collab that covers this insurance policy concept, and other key areas of bounce and grind. One of the easiest to understand bounce videos out there. 👇 youtu.be/6N8xXQFgYkE

If you can find the rare opportunity to do it, playing around a practice green with a variety of bounce options is super fun. The only way to really experiment and find what you like / experience the differences.

That’s just a tough shot. I’d probably take something with low bounce, try to sweep and not dig, and almost try to play it a groove thin, for safety.

Spot on. Bounce is about matching the club to the shot to the turf, giving you the highest % chance to make good contact. Though it can, it’s rarely about unlocking some new shot, or fixing all your bad ones.

Ain’t that the truth. Assuming you likely gravitate towards low bounce and low leading edge to pinch into the firm turf?

My favorite video of bounce in action: Tiger uses technique + bounce to create a huge window for successful contact. The face remains in that 2nd~5th groove area for so long, how could he ever hit this poorly?
Proper wedge bounce won’t guarantee that you hit good shots. But it can act as an “insurance policy” to help you reduce bad ones.

It can be a daunting landscape. I’ll aim to simplify with my posts and videos.
