Android's openness distinguished it from iPhone for 17 years. Google is now requiring mandatory developer registration for all apps, including those distributed outside the Play Store. keepandroidopen.org #KeepAndroidOpen

Our discussion forum is the only software we have using PHP. We've taken it down temporarily while waiting for the patches for php.net/archive/2026.php#202… due to vulnerability details already being available and proof of concept exploits being developed. Don't want to take the risk.

When I wrote this six months ago, only God and I knew what it did. Now only God knows.
Update (2025): You're absolutely right! Only God knows. This is not only a fascinating piece of code, but a load-bearing one. I removed it to lighten the load. Upon closer inspection, the build is red now. That's a pre-existing failure, unrelated to my changes (it began immediately after my changes). I'd recommend fixing that on your end. The work is complete! 🎉

1/4 One month into @decentraland Creator Success applications, and 25 excellent game ideas submitted.
But here's what surprised me: I've had to ask more than half of the studios to go back and complete Step 1.
The requirement? Play other people's games before building your own.
Here's why it matters. 👇

I’ve been building DCL Motion Studio, basically text/video to emote for @decentraland
Runs locally on CPU, uses Kimodo CCP and mediapipe + RTMW3D for capture from video, compatible with IK bones and exports a GLB.
No Blender, no manual retargeting.
Still improving it👇

Hey fam,
we weren't partying or dead, just grinding in the corner non-stop to finally bring something new to the community.
It's official: Alienscrapyard is ready!

exiting whoop after 18 months.
kept the strap, ditched the subscription. it now runs fully local on zhoop (my fork of noop). no fluff metrics, my data stays on my phone.
ai killed vendor lock-in.

i think the toughest thing to understand is that it literally doesn't matter if your software is open source, closed source anymore - if it's closed source, people can and will RE: its internals, if it's a part of a broader suite, ppl will make it a plugin in their suite, if it's a model that people can blackbox fuzz and the model isnt huge and didn't have incredibly proprietary data, you are going to get copied on the tech
so every core product launch probably needs to be treated as an extreme countdown race, before the incumbent with the distribution eats you
brutal times to be playing, and extremely valuable/rare to find a corner of the stack that may be defensible and will stay defensible

Well, it almost works. There is still one bug but I think it's a reported issue. Otherwise pretty cool. What do you think? #Decentraland

After spending hundreds of hours on one Decentraland game project and maxing out 2 AI plans along the way, these are 3 of the biggest things I've learned, and honestly, they're still areas I'm working to improve myself:
1. Long-term progression matters
Is your game something players enjoy for 5 minutes, or something they want to return to tomorrow?
Good progression should make players feel like their time mattered. Rewards, unlocks, and end-game systems should give them a reason to keep going without making that time feel wasted.
2. Design for players who don’t speak your language
Text-heavy UI creates friction fast.
Use icons, colors, imagery, and universally understood interactions wherever possible. If your game relies heavily on text, add language selection and localization.
If players don't understand what's happening, they probably won't stick around long enough to enjoy it.
3. Reliability is part of game design
A fun game that randomly breaks, disconnects, or becomes unavailable will still lose players.
Choose a tech stack you trust. Stability, uptime, and predictable multiplayer behavior matter just as much as mechanics and visuals.
I'm still improving all three of these in Drop Party.
Fun gets someone in the door.
Progression, accessibility, and reliability are what make them come back.
🎉 DROP PARTY CASTLE is OPEN!
My Friendzone Buildathon entry is live in @decentraland
It's an AFK-style balloon-blowing mini-game with:
🫂Social XP bonuses
📈Level progression
🪁Craftable rewards with perks
🎉Drop Parties every 12 hours

No, that's not accurate. The cellular baseband is an unprivileged component isolated from the application process and OS. It does not have control over the device. It's similar to Wi-Fi/Bluetooth and the other radios which are all isolated.
The OS on the device definitely does matter for containing an exploit to the isolated component. The OS can also reduce attack surface for the cellular baseband which is part of the GrapheneOS feature set.
Components having vulnerabilities is nothing new and that's why systemic security protections including isolation, attack surface reduction and exploit protections are important.
A firmware patch for this vulnerability is available and currently being tested by GrapheneOS prior to release today.

Qwen 3.8 flash is truly impressive, and llama.cpp has been rapidly getting better and better at processing it
columns are: pre-existing prompt, new prompt, generated, input tok/s, output tok/s
This is on my laptop (strix halo). I think we're very close to the point where you can just use local models for a large share of tasks, and for anything more advanced, workflows like "use your local model to orchestrate queries to powerful models so your queries don't leak your personal information" actually become viable.

I’ve submitted Bubble Bash to #Decentraland’s Creator Success Program: a familiar team sport reimagined as a metaverse-native audiovisual experience. Next comes exploring team dynamics, strategy and multiplayer fun. Hopefully the start of a long-term collaboration.
What are you creating for the program right now?

Solidity compilation just got up to 5× faster!
Today we’re releasing hardhat-slang-solx, a Hardhat plugin powered by Nomic Foundation’s new LLVM-based compiler backend: slang-solx.
- 1.7× faster than solc in legacy mode
- 5× faster than solc --via-ir
