I had a lovely time with Dave Eggers in San Rafael yesterday. A lovely crowd came out and laughed. Stig came too! Thank you everybody - a wonderful afternoon. I’m now reading Dave’s magnificent new book - Contrapposto.

When you call your reps to say NO to Jeffries and Schumer it is crucial to say that they CANNOT be replaced with someone who has the same policies on Israel/Palestine and who is against Medicare for All. This must be the litmus test: Not just new blood, new policies.
I called my Representative and Senators and told them that they should oppose Jeffries and Schumer for leadership roles. It took five minutes, please do the same. Here's a simple script for you: "Hello, my name is [your name, then spell it], I’m a constituent in [zip code]. I want [Representative/Senator Name] to oppose [Jeffries/Schumer] in leadership for the new Congress and support someone new. We need new blood and stronger leaders for this once in a generation opportunity that we have." You can find your reps and their numbers here: congress.gov/members/find-yo…

Spotify just announced a feature that could either save the music industry or destroy it. Starting as early as Q1 2027, Spotify Premium subscribers will be able to use AI to transform any participating artist’s song into a completely different version. Turn a folk ballad into a dance track. Make a hip-hop song sound acoustic. Generate a cover where one artist’s voice performs another artist’s song. Remix a pop hit into lo-fi study music. Create the version of your favorite song that only existed in your head until now. The remixes will be uploaded directly to Spotify. They’ll appear in playlists. They’ll count toward the original song’s chart position. And most importantly the original artist will earn royalties every time someone listens to a fan-created remix of their work. Spotify has already signed a landmark licensing deal with Universal Music Group the world’s largest record label. Negotiations with Sony Music and Warner Music are ongoing. The feature will cost an additional $4–$5/month on top of Spotify Premium. And analysts project 7–8% of American subscribers will adopt it by 2028. This is not Suno or Udio generating music from text prompts. This is fans remixing real songs by real artists with the artists’ permission, on the world’s largest streaming platform, with royalties flowing back to the creators. A music industry analyst who’s covered streaming economics for 15 years told her team something after reading the licensing agreement that reframed how she understood the future of recorded music. “Spotify just turned 640 million listeners into 640 million potential remixers. The question isn’t whether people will use it they will. The question is whether paying artists for fan remixes solves the economics of streaming or creates a world where the original recording is worth less than the infinite remixes generated from it.” Here’s what Spotify’s AI remix feature actually is, who wins, who loses, and why this might be the most consequential decision in the music industry since the launch of streaming itself 🧵

He interrupted. Like they always do. Thought he could talk over her, steamroll her time, dismiss her authority. But Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett didn’t raise her voice. Didn’t match his energy. Didn’t need to. She just stopped, looked at him,

Is Blocking Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer Possible? With a 259-person House, we only need 42 democratic reps to block Jeffries from becoming speaker. With 56 dem senators we need 29 votes to prevent Schumer from becoming leader in the Senate. m.youtube.com/watch?v=J9gfd7…

The Senate Majority Leader is going to be all over TV for the next 2 years arguing with Trump. He or she will be the the face of the opposition. Do you want that to be Schumer or someone like Ossoff? For me, it's not even close. Turn the page.

Schumer isn’t why Democrats won. Schumer is why Democrats have such a low approval rating. He cannot lead this party to victory in two years!!! Democrats like him drove me to be an independent! @cnn @MSNOWNews
NEW: Chuck Schumer is preparing to lead the Senate with a network of former aides lobbying for private equity—including two former policy chiefs and his top health adviser. Their clients include Blackstone, Apollo, and the industry’s top trade group. readsludge.com/2026/11/06/th…

🚨 Rep. Sarah Jacobs left Pete Hegseth STUNNED in a hearing. With 2,500 Marines from her district off the coast of Iran and military families calling her office in panic, she asked the question no one else would: “Do you believe the president is mentally stable enough to be Commander-in-Chief?” Hegseth deflected hard. Ladies and gentlemen she didn’t flinch. She dropped this on top of it:“If you think this is what winning looks like… maybe we should be questioning your mental stability.” Pure accountability. No notes. It takes a woman to say what needs to be said when lives and billions of dollars are on the line. The midterms wimnigs were clearly ahead of their time. – at Washington, DC

Ro Khanna: “Hakeem Jeffries is going to be speaker and will have the unanimous support of the caucus.” The people do not want Jeffries for Speaker but the party is going to install him anyway. Let this be the moment that you finally face the truth: Democrats do not serve the people. They serve corporations, billionaires, and the Zionist war machine just like Republicans.

We've long feared that Democrats would snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. Making @hakeemjeffries and @SenSchumer Speaker and Senate Majority Leader would be the very definition of that.

Reminder that in April 2024, Hakeem Jeffries voted against requiring warrants to search our private communications collected under FISA Section 702. Had he voted yes it would have passed 213–211. He also voted against cutting military aid to Israel just 4 months ago. Was what happened on Tues a cry for that kind of leadership?
NEW: House Dems "inundated" w/ calls & emails urging them not to elect Jeffries speaker One member told @axios they got "300-400" calls in 2 days Another said "over 500" A third said "higher" than 500: "It's our No. 1 issue, and it's not close." axios.com/2026/11/06/jeffrie…
