Councillors passed a motion for Drogheda to become an Apartheid-free zone earlier this year. It received unanimous support.
Today we finally had the opportunity to thank members of the council in person, including Mayor of Drogheda, Michelle Hall, who put the motion forward in response to Israel's oppression of the Palestinian people.
It was also an honour to meet with local group Drogheda Stands with Palestine.
We share a history of colonisation with Ireland. The support of the Irish people gives us strength. The Palestinian people see the Irish support on their TVs and mobiles.
We trust that we will gain our freedom, just as Irish people have gained their freedom.

Israel is the first state in history to legislate a death sentence that applies only to one ethnic group.
There's a reason nobody has ever done this.
It's a depth of evil beyond humanity itself.

Having murdered EVERY journalist in Gaza, and many of their families.
Having banned ANY international journalist from entering.
Having destroyed almost every structure in Gaza and even laughing as they blew up water treatment facilities and cancer wards.
Israel is now BANNING all aid agencies from operating there from tomorrow.
The last thread of charitable aid removed.
An evil beyond humanity.
Take ACTION

A remarkable 7 Team Ireland boxers have won through to the finals of the European U15 Championships in Budva.
Ireland will finish joint second in the "raw" medals table. Ukraine is in first place with 19 medals and Ireland joint second on 13 with England. The finalised medals table, which takes account of the number of gold, silver and bronze medals per team, will be released after tomorrow's finals.

Fifty-three years ago, British soldiers callously murdered civilians on the streets of Derry.
Over fifteen years ago, the British Prime Minister publicly acknowledged the role of those soldiers.
Yet, not a single British soldier or their superiors, has been held accountable.
This is a grave injustice.
I commend the courage and unwavering determination of the Bloody Sunday families.l and extend my solidarity to them and our continued support in pursuit of justice.

Perhaps unwillingly, he was the foremost cultural ambassador for our generation and instrumental in the resurgence of Irish language and culture.
He gently reminded us of the role the language has in understanding our surroundings, and knowing ourselves.
His legacy will live on in the curious minds of the Irish and beyond, in those who seek a deeper and more fulfilling life.
