The clock was running after an incomplete pass before that Lions 4th down. And the Packers just ran a play with no time added. You rarely see that in the NFL, or CFB for that matter. Several seconds mistakenly ticked off in Detroit.

And Brady rightfully very critical of a Lions late hit/unnecessary roughness call and a Packers roughing the passer call. And a super rare instance of intentional grounding called when a receiver was blatantly in the area. Lions-Packers has been an awful display of officiating.

I say super rare on the grounding in that you often see so much leeway on what almost everyone would consider to be grounding. You definitely don’t expect to see grounding called on a play that wasn’t actually grounding.

Texas A&M trailed Alabama 31-20. A&M ball 4th & 6 own 22 with 3:54 left. Season on the line, and Elko punted. You can’t make this stuff up. That’s all you need to know regardless of what followed, but what makes it funnier is A&M never got the ball back.

This is the part most of us think about. What we overlook is that it means more games, more injuries, and more fatigue for the good teams that are deserving. Even if slightly, it changes the chances of the best team actually winning. #Florida #Texas
This is the issue. Texas just lost to unranked teams in consecutive weeks. The latest, a home game against Florida & a backup QB. Probably wouldn’t matter next year. Little punishment and could easily overcome it with 24 teams. Thrilling ending. Fun, right? For this year.

Good for Sayin. Great response by OSU. Sayin’s clean pocket versus pressured passing numbers are super drastic, which was the big concern against Indiana. But he has made tons of mistakes today independent of pressure. MAYBE he’ll settle in now.
And if you’re not mobile, you really better throw the ball away. Sayin can’t be immobile AND refuse to throw it away. He took a 6-yard sack earlier too when he easily could’ve dirted it with a TE a yard in front of him.

Not having the feet to add yds on lost plays or escape is one thing. But it 100% means you can’t voluntarily lose yds when you can easily throw away or dirt it. And you need to be willing to set your feet and take a hit, unlike the 2nd down whiff. Shocking half.

Sayin just doesn't want to throw the ball away today, apparently

You 100% go down at the 1. You can still score the TD. And if you fail and need to kick, you wouldn’t have the threat of them scoring a TD given the reduced time.
Bills maybe the only team in the league where they are probably better off if he got tackled at the 1 since they have the automatic TD sneak play for 3rd/4th.

Welp. NFL coaches are either the dumbest smart people or the smartest dumb people. I truly don’t know. And I’m not smart enough to know the difference.
Is sliding at 1 not most obvious move of all time if you’re Bills??? It’s beneficial in multiple ways. You can score on next play. And if you don’t, you can kick FG giving Rams significantly less time to kick FG. And you eliminate their opportunity for TD. Nuts.

Promise this is last tweet on this… But I really didn’t have this one in mind when I went on rant about ball security earlier. Players need to know and coaches need to relay the info. And you need to build good habits in practice. All these fumbles are legit unacceptable.

A matter of minutes after my post on ball security issues across NFL when defenders are punching. Can’t overstate how much of an issue it is right now. And it’s avoidable. 49ers score next play. Yes, these punches are great. But none I showed were surprises from behind.

The Vikings are PLAYING FOR A FG HERE. Myles Price is still 8ish yards shy of the 1st Down. The ball is everything in this situation and could’ve cost the Vikings the game. We’re seeing plays like this much more this year. xitter.cf/nfl/status/21093583184…
We talk practice rules impacting tackling, but can’t help but wonder if it’s impacting ball security too. Defenders have gotten so good at punching. Coaches need to stress it more & players need to be smarter. Skattebo (in rain) spoke for itself, but 2 huge examples of a trend…

Chase Brown has eyes on every defensive threat here. And clearly isn’t getting the 1st Down or TD. There’s zero excuse to fumble here. Live for 3rd down. xitter.cf/pick6packfb/status/210…

I hit send on this seconds before Commanders debacle, thinking they were still going to win and were lucky to be in that situation. Just was expressing process matters. Can’t believe they still tied the Giants, in that fashion. That was absurd.
Quinn got bailed out on fumble. I like Vilma, but disagreed in moment when he said WAS going on 4th & 5 on +46 wouldn’t make sense in next score wins spot. Do you trust your O or D more? Plus, you’re 1-3 and punt made tie much more likely. Should’ve lost before NYG fumble on +24.

OMG. And they still tied. From being bailed out to looking worse. What just happened to the Commanders????
