As of this date, this is how the current El Nino event compares to the last 3 Super-Ninos Absolute beast. Has been dominant over tropical weather this summer/fall and expect the Lower 48 pattern to get much stormier later in November.

There is some precedent for a cold plunge in November before the mild winter pattern across the Northeast/Midwest takes shape November 1997 was quite chilly before the cold and snow largely shut down for the season, though this didn't occur in 2015 or 1982

Was drier in Sept-Oct during all of the last 5 big El Nino onset years. It's actually been a bit wetter than average so far this time around

How does this stretch figure with our record El Niño? I know rain is coming down the road but I am surprised we are having such a dry stretch.
