I actually think @RonDeSantis makes some good points here. Hard to scream about socialism when your party is promoting crony capitalism. Sounds like the beginnings of a message for Republican primary voters next year.
Ron DeSantis explains why the GOP "screaming socialism" doesn't work anymore: "Young people have a very positive view of socialism compared to capitalism. The question is, why is that? Some of it is the education in our universities. But I think a big part of that is, what they're comparing is not free enterprise versus socialism. What they're comparing is how government gets involved in business, and you have crony capitalism. The best kind of indirect supporters of socialism are some of these corporatist republicans who propagate these crony policies. The average person is seeing that and saying, 'Wait a minute, you're trying to bend the government to funnel benefits to this corporation or that industry. What about having a competitive market? ... Young people really aren't seeing that. They're seeing just a handful of companies that have an outsized influence on our economy and on our society"

Every state shifted left, with especially large swings in parts of the South and in states with large Latino populations. But, the shift toward Democrats was felt across the country.

A chance now for Israel to turn away from the disaster of the Netanyahu government of the last four years. Let’s hope they take it.

Of all the huge wins on Tuesday none were more satisfying to me than @jamestalarico whipping the ass of @KenPaxtonTX Partly because Paxton is a crook and it would have been a disgrace to have him in the Senate. Partly because Talarico showed brains and kindness can win anywhere.
It's not hard to see why James Talarico pulled off a landslide as a Democrat in Texas. Just look at his campaign materials. S-tier operation.

Where have all the Mitt Romney’s gone?
Bad policy, bad character make bad politics: erratic tariffs, impulsive Iran war, blanket pardons, apparent corruption, weaponized justice, ICE brutality, mountainous deficits, hiding Epstein, abandoning allies and coddling enemies. Hoping for a course correction, for the country and for my party.

Chris Christie UNLOADS on Vivek Ramswamy losing the Ohio governor’s race... “You not only have to question the judgement of a man who would take a woman — an elderly woman, out of the car she was living in out of the parking lot in a church in Pennsylvania with her cats and put her in front of a video camera, and make that a TV add in the gubernatorial race. We know what Vivek Ramswamy is, and voters have judged him as such. But here is the real problem going forward. J.D. Vance stood 100 percent with Vivek Ramaswamy. Not only as a person and a candidate, but he stood behind that advertisement. And Vivek Ramaswamy will be forgotten. He is going to be sent to the dustbin of history. But J.D. Vance is going to be remembered, I think, for this campaign, for more than anything else, David, that he stood by that ad, a man who wrote a book on Catholicism, stood behind that ad. It’s a disgrace.”

It looks like the Dems are headed for a blowout night. In America we may get off track from time to time, but we always self correct. This was clearly a repudiation of the incompetence and corruption of @realDonaldTrump now Democrats have to earn the trust the people have put in them.

This ad was a big miscalculation from @SenatorCollins. I think she is going down next week. Right now I think Dems win 52 or 53 Senate seats.
Senator Collins, I think you are a little out of touch. This is about a cord of wood — and about Mainers struggling to afford to heat their homes this winter. I know what it’s like to run out of fuel. I’ve lived that struggle. That’s the experience I’ll take to the U.S. Senate. And I’ll use it to fight for working people.

I don’t know if McConnell would have been able to push conviction over the top or not. But it would have been close. And he essentially admitted on the Senate floor he knew Trump was guilty. History will remember that he had a chance to stand up and do what was right but he was afraid he couldn’t keep his job as GOP Senate leader.
C-SPAN: Liz Cheney says Trump would’ve been convicted in 2021 if McConnell voted to impeach “I think if he had voted to convict, we would have had enough Republicans who would have followed him that he would've been convicted.”

Israel may finally be able to move on from Netanyahu. His coalition looks well short of a majority. It’s up to the opposition and the Arab parties to work together now and drive the country back from the brink. Let’s hope they can.
Eisenkot: “The initial exit poll results point to an unequivocal lack of confidence in Netanyahu and the government responsible for October 7, on the part of the Zionist majority and the majority of Israeli citizens. I will act immediately to implement the people’s verdict, replace Netanyahu’s government, and establish a Zionist government, as soon as possible.”
