It’s actually not that surprising centrists don’t like sitting down and having to defend their positions.
I really do find the whole “let’s have a sit down intra-factional debate” thing sorta unproductive usually because it pits figures who really have no interest in learning from a respective faction against each other.
It’s particularly frustrating amongst the Democratic coalition because no faction is remotely big enough to win an election.
There is no “winning” in this debate. There is only coexistence.

Yglesias Abundance politics would’ve advised Dems to ignore ICE abuse and back data center expansion. Would’ve been catastrophic politically.
One of the things that made it progressive was the exemption which the mayor rolled over on and preemptively gave up despite strong opposition from council. It significantly raises taxes on small business.
Mike Driscoll’s bill fixing this deserves a hearing and vote.
