Back in Cumbria today!
The weather today is most certainly nothing like it is in this throwback photo! Summer well and truly over!
Ah well, only 65 days until Christmas 🎅
And just like that this mini trip comes to an end!
I do love the fact I can depart Shotton in Wales at 2140 and still get back to Ulverston in Cumbria for bed! 0009 arrival much preferred than the 0515 first departure of the day 😂
Hope everyone enjoyed following along!
After a couple of days trundling around Wales branch lines. This is going to feel supersonic speed for this run up to Preston from Warrington Bank Quay.
An enjoyable few hours catching up with Chris and chatting everything and anything rail related!
Sadly it’s now time to start the journey home!
Be sure to give a @EngFocus a follow. All round good knowledgeable friend of mine!
And we have arrived at Hawarden Bridge! Time to go and find Chris to chat railways and future stations.
Now at Wrexham Central! Was expecting a class 230, but guess one of them has failed again sadly 😳.
So 195 it is to Hawarden Bridge!
Made it to Corwen where it was a quick change of buses! Arrived on the T10 and am now on the T3 which will take me to Wrexham!
Thankfully Corwen bus station has some of the cleanest public toilets I’ve seen! The bladder is thankful!
Time to say farewell to Betsy and head to Corwen!
Leg room dreams are made of on this bus 😍. Although 10 mins in I’m regressing it decision to have more than 1 pint at the pub 😬😬.
I’m now in Betws-y-Coed and rather predictably it’s absolutely started tipping it down! So only one thing for it…
To the pub while I wait for my bus!
Llandudno Junction where I’m changing to take a trip on the Conwy Valley.
Always think at Llandudno Junction what a nice big station building it has. It’s such a shame non of it is used as a passenger waiting room. Instead passengers have a tiny cold waiting area at bottom of steps.
Hopefully the now closed cafe can be converted into a waiting room. Would be perfect!
After a little wander around Holyhead it’s time to head back to the station and on towards Llandudno Junction.
Holyhead isn’t all that bad a place.
Well that was brilliant! That breakfast has proper set me up for the day!
If in Holyhead and looking for some grub, give the Holly Molly Cafe a go! 5 minutes from station so perfect for those with lengthy ferry connections!
£15 for the builders breakfast! £15 well spent!
Holyhead. To many, it’s the gateway to an Ireland adventure…
For me it’s the gateway to my breakfast today!
Nice easy connection at Bangor from bus to train… now time to head over to Anglesey and Holyhead!
(No, I’m not going to Ireland 😂)
Time to head to Bangor on the T2. Using my advance train ticket that I bought last week. I like that things like this are an option. It really simplifies the journey!
Morning from Caernarfon Travelodge!
Stayed here once before, think it’s had a bit of a refurb since I was last here. Refurbished Travelodge hotels are fairly decent! Stayed in a non refurbished premier inn in Doncaster and I’d argue a refurbished Travelodge is better than a Premier Inn!
