People love to label Roku as the worst Avatar because the 100-Year War happened, but that completely ignores how insanely powerful and respected he actually was.
Decades of Absolute Peace: For over 70 years, Roku kept all four nations completely balanced. Sozin was the most ambitious Fire Lord in history, and he literally did not dare move on the other nations until Roku was gone.
The Sozin Dilemma: When Roku spared Sozin at the Fire Palace, he completely humbled him in seconds. His mistake wasn't a lack of power—it was giving his childhood friend a second chance. He chose mercy, which is a core virtue of the Avatar, even if it turned out to be fatal long-term.

"Zero side effects" is wild considering Aang literally died at 66 years old 😭 Kyoshi lived to 230 and Roku made it to 70 while actively fighting a volcano. Remaining in the Avatar State inside that iceberg constantly drained Aang’s physical life battery....he paid for that 100-year nap by losing decades off his lifespan
