Well I was gone for two whole weeks, and you might think I'm joking when I ask whether during that time some members of Victoria Council managed to conjure a public debate about the future of movie theatres in Downtown Victoria to grab headlines in a meeting where they also GAVE THEMSELVES A PER DIEM PAY RAISE WHILE EVERYBODY WAS DISRACTED?
Kudos to the @timescolonist for flagging this and for adding the incredible Krista Loughton quote about how much extra work it is to bring a motion to ask council to approve her travel spending every time one of them goes somewhere...

The mostly skeletal remains of 26-year-old James Beick-Fowler were found inside North Vancouver's abandoned Maplewood Pub in April – more than a year after his likely overdose death. He had a bottle of "safe supply" Dilaudid that he didn't have a prescription for & a syringe & pipe by his side.
His mom Heather Fowler's words are haunting - “He suffered from mental illness and, subsequently, drug addiction, and received zero help and ended up being homeless and squatting in this building, and he overdosed...,” she said. “His remains had been rotting there since March of 2024 and nobody knew.”
Fowler tried on two occasions to get help for her son under the Mental Health Act, believing he could be a danger to himself or others. Both times, he was released shortly after being brought in.
This is the latest tragic story of 16,000 lives lost to addiction & families torn apart after 8 years of radical NDP bad policy & dangerous ideology.
British Columbians need change NOW!

In September 2024, Crown prosecutors elected not to pursue a designation that would have seen Field locked up indefinitely.
Now, two more women, including a teen, were sexually assaulted.
The NDP have known for years that our justice system needs reform - they just didn’t make public safety a priority.

The BC NDP & federal Liberals pushed dangerous "safe supply" for years in lock-step with their bureaucrats & drug legalization activists, including those in the medical field.
With brave addiction physicians long speaking out & years of relentless pressure from me & the federal Conservatives, combined with a leaked BC Health Ministry memo in February showing the significant harm & fraud caused by “safe supply,” the BC NDP finally announced it would be moving to a witnessed dosing model.
But the work is not done. New BC guidelines do not include "safe supply" stimulants or benzos & do not require the people already getting "safe supply" opioids to switch to witnessed dosing, all but ensuring continued diversion of pills that will addict kids, fuel fentanyl use & deaths, & enrich organized crime.
When pressed about this in the Legislature, David Eby lied, saying that most people are already on witnessed dosing because of his government's efforts, before finally admitting they have no way to even track the data.
David Eby must:
👉 Direct his Minister to make ALL "safe supply" witnessed dosing
👉 Launch a public inquiry into his own government & bureaucrats whose bad "safe supply" policy & dangerous ideology caused the harm
