Microchip Database transfer microchip registration for a stolen dog! This is a very upsetting story about stolen French Bulldog Bear. “He was sold on @Pets4Homes in March 2026. I’m actually his rightful owner. His advert said he's 2, he's actually 9. His giraffe mark on his chest is quite distinctive. He is so loved and missed 💔”. • So the person who bought Bear is innocent, they didn’t know he was stolen. • The microchip company are aware. • Police said it's a cival matter. His microchip is registered with Petlog, who agreed to let the new people update his microchip registration under the Cat and Dog Microchipping Regulations 2023 laws, whereby microchips must be in a ‘keeper’s’ name which is where a dog is residing. I've challenged how this happened without me been notified, his kennel club papers are still active in my name as is his health account. I know he was sold via Pets4Homes because I messaged them myself. Petlog should never have transferred keepership without my consent. The microchip details where correct and up-to- date? Petlog have admitted they transferred the registration and did it without contacting me. Because he'd resided at the new address for more than 30 days. She said laws/ legislation changed this year and chip details must be where the dog stays. So somehow his details have been changed. She said I need to go to open court against Petlog to get the details and then go to open court against the new owners. 🫪 So basically chips are now of no use to owners 🤦🏻‍♀️ they were absolutely useless! If you know who bought Bear please contact me. Please sign the petition to close this loophole. Amend microchip rules to prevent stolen pets being re-registered without consent: petition.parliament.uk/petit… Microchip Databases must not transfer keeper registration for a lost or stolen pet if the original keeper is contactable and has not given consent, especially when a dog or cat has been flagged as missing or stolen I'm actually livid. What is the point in a chip now. Why is it the law we pay for chips and pay to update them. I said to them based on that I can steal any dog as long as I keep it hidden 30 days you'll update chip and let me have it. She said well no, and I was like well yesssss. Because you didn't ring me to challenge Bears chip 🤦🏻‍♀️ We thank Maddy Clapham - McAndrew for letting us use Bear’s story and hope we can find him and get him back home Original post: facebook.com/share/p/1CSmeur… #MakeChipsCount #ScanMe #PetTheftReform #PetAbduction
