While I lost a lot of respect for @Schwarzenegger due to his “screw your freedoms” comments during Covid, most of the time his position is right on point. Hard to argue the fact that “young kids today” tend to shy away and “baby themselves” from the struggle that comes with hard work in order to achieve success. Arnold explained: “Anybody that tries to baby themselves, and pamper themselves and protect themselves — ‘Oh, I don’t want to feel bad, I don’t really want to go through any discomfort’ — It’s over,” Schwarzenegger continued. “You have to be able to struggle.” “The human mind can only really grow through resistance. You can only strengthen your character, become a really strong person inside, if you have resistance.” Schwarzenegger said there needs to be a line in the sand between struggle and over-babying. “Let’s go and teach kids to be tough, to do sports, to study and struggle and go through these kind of painful moments sometimes.” “The more you struggle, the further you’re gonna go and the stronger you’re going to get,” the Hollywood action star said Wednesday. “It’s just the way the world works.” He’s right. When we think about the “greatest generation”; those who fought in WWII, we must consider why they were so great. Grit, toughness, and tenacity were built into their souls. Even the ones who didn’t serve had to endure so much here at home. But why were they tough? They were forced to struggle. The early 1900s in America wasn’t easy. Most regular people lived in poverty, and they had to survive the Great Depression. People made due with what they had; it was not a life of excess. There wasn’t room for excuses nor babying. Things needed to get done, or you didn’t eat. A far cry from today’s world where people have tantrums because their gluten free, $40 vegan “burger” wasn’t delivered in the 30 minute window their magical app promised them. The world needs strong men 💪 #enteringmanhood
